Is AOL still in operation?

Asked by john65pennington (29235points) August 30th, 2011

I have not received any junk mail from AOL in two or three years. Question: is AOL still in operation and as popular as it was five years ago, or has it faded into the sunset?

It’s still there, but no more mail.

I miss the free coasters :(

Still there. I have an email account with them.

Yup, still there. Drastically shrunk. No more free dial up cds either, finally.

@dreamwolf Oh yeah, I forgot about those. Used to get them all the time. I wonder if they still have their chat rooms? Those were the first chats I ever participated in.

@chyna yeah, those chatrooms, seemed alot clean, and organized actually.

Yep! still alive and kickin’. I use AOL as my homepage for firefox and also as an extra email account.
@dreamwolf I think I ran across a CD the other day while cleaning out something in the basement. I laughed out loud for real:DDD

Isn’t AOL’s headquarters right next door to Blockbuster’s?

@AmWiser I literally survived on those for about a years worth for free 3 months and such as a 7th grader in 2001.

AOL is alive and well and playing it smart is all. Free is good and they finally got it no spam needed either!

Sure is! I’ve used AOL for a long, long time now.

My dad still uses it.

Still there but going the way of Myspace, I think.

AOL Still exists but as a content network and not a service provider, so it’s more like Yahoo! these days.

They own a lot of internet properties, namely things like the Weblogs Inc. network, and The Huffington Post.
