What are these anime movies?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) November 21st, 2011

Two anime movies, I forget what they are though.

One has a robotic girl that some kid falls in love with, and she’s actually apart of some giant cannon thing to destroy the world, I forget what it’s called.

The second one—might be the same but I doubt it) has parts with this carriage going through the desert, and there are these cucumber/worm things all around the desert.

Anyone know what these are?

Also ecommend any if you know any good ones, especially with technology or robots liek ghost in the shell, and such things.

First one is Metropolis. I really enjoyed that one.

Second one… maybe Nausicaa? Does this image look familiar?

@ParaParaYukiko Yes! anusicaa, thats it! Same as the first one, youa re outstandingly helpful!

Do you know any more along the lines of metropolis? I loved that one!

I think theres also a movie about a kid who is actually an andriod, and he runds off some special oil and people are after him because of it, I don’t know what that one is

ehh I spelt nausica wrong but yeah, the other one I’m thinking of is this andriod/robot thing, he’s made prmarily out of some special wood and his veins are filled with this oil from the tree he was made from, or something like that.

No problem, glad to be of help! The last movie you mentioned doesn’t sound familiar… Is it an older anime film? The wood part reminds me of Origin: Spirits of the Past, but that’s not about a robot, it’s a boy who gets special powers from a tree.

As for movies along the line of Metropolis, Ghost in the Shell has some similar themes (main female character is an android), but a much darker tone than Metropolis. Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Metropolis, also did Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion. You may also enjoy Steamboy, a steampunk anime film. Howl’s Moving Castle (another Miyazaki film, like Nausicaa) is another excellent film.

Hope some of these help! I watch a lot of anime, so if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me!

@ParaParaYukiko I absolutely loved ghost in the shell and steamboy was great too!

It isn’t origin, but that one does look good. Does it have a part where they are bombing the forests with fire balls and stuff like that and people are trapped on the ground? I recall that from soemthing.

“Wings of Honnemise” ( no robots but great story about human efforts to reach space, romance between a space pilot and a single mom who has a really interesting kid ) One of the greatest anime movie out there.
