TO what degree does the physical attractiveness of the news reader enter into whether you watch that particular channel or network?

For example, Erin Burnett (CNBC) is attractive and smart. Some of the other women on CNBC aren’t. Does that change your viewing habits?

Or take Shepherd Smith on Fox. Women friends of mine tell me that he is attractive looking. Does that / should that change their credibility?

Do you change your viewing habits based on the physical attractiveness of the person doing the reporting?

Beauty is in eyes of the beholder, as someone other than me has probably already said.

I view the news on stations that I trust; that would be PBS.

I tend toward an outlet not a particular news reader.

I’m like @marinelife in that, unless there is something about the voice that I find either especially appealing or unappealing. I tend not to watch the news so much as listen while I do other stuff.

Uh, not at all. Anyone who actually does this should be doing more than watching the news for information. Geez.

I hate to say this, but Dateline leans toward putting the most physically unattractive commentators on their show.

Keith Morrison…massive overacting to the point that it is very hard to take him seriously.

There is another guy, ½ of the side of his face is paralyzed. It is very distracting.

There is a female who has very sharp, pointed feathers, and her eyebrows are tweezed to a point…she looks like a devil.

I feel petty about noting all of this, but all three of them totally distract from the programs when their faces are on screen.

Oh..and there is a female anchor on either 60 min or 20/20 who is very attractive. But the way she handles herself gives you the impression that that’s all she’s really thinking about, wondering if the person she’s interviewing finds her attractive too. Kind of this little, unprofessional flirting going on and kind of a pretty, fixed smile as though she’s not hearing anything the other person is saying. She’s just being so pretty! See.

Zero. For me it’s more about the content and voice. Most news comentators annoy the hell out of me, I’d rather read. I like the news delivered matter of factly, I don’t give a damn what that particular newscaster or reporter’s opinion is or how witty they can come across.

I will admit to watching a certain station in the morning because they had weathergirl Evelyn Taft
My kids would see her on TV, and say “Wow, she’s pretty!”, and I would tell them “I want you to get used to calling her ‘Mom’ ”

Stephanie Abrams (Weather Channel) always seems perky and friendly..

Not at all. Unless they were so odd looking that I’d be completely distracted from what they’re saying, it doesn’t matter. I’m more concerned with their knowledge and delivery. That said, I could look at Anderson Cooper all damn day.
