What's the best meal you've eaten lately?

Mine was smoked salmon with grilled asparagus, grilled portobella mushrooms, roasted corn, and a sweet potato with a dash of cinnamon. What about you?

I went to a Joe’s Crab Shack in Texas and had their “crab pot”. It was great and went very well with a Blue Moon beer.

I can’t think of any meal I have had recently that wasn’t sub-standard. Funny this didn’t occur to me till you asked this question.

Last night…I made Lasagne, garlic bread and a killer salad. Mmmmm good!

I have had a few really delicious meals lately. One was a salad with delicious house dressing, entree was salmon with a sweet hot Asian type sauce, Jasmine rice, and beets.

Another was a really good breakfast buffet.

At home food hasn’t been over the top delicious because I recently changed my diet and miss some of my yummiest foods.

I had dinner at a local restaurant the other day, instead of an entree, I had two appetizers. After a small frisee salad with avocado, I had a half dozen grilled asparagus spears with a poached egg on top, accompanied by a couple of seared scallops in an asparagus puree. Mmmmm.

The week before I was at City Hall restaurant in Tribeca, and had two grilled lobster tails on a bed of asparagus. That was delicious!

(You might have picked up that I like asparagus….)

I made parmesan boneless pork chops last night with applesauce and a green salad with garlicky dressing. It was very good.

A very special lady is making me lunch this coming Tuesday. Having many times experienced her fabulous cooking, I know that it will be the best meal I’ve had since the last time.

I got nothing, lately. I took my kid out yesterday for a sushi dinner as part of our national celebration but it seriously was nothing that great. I was happy that he ate and liked it. Sushi was his choice. I don’t really ‘do’ food. I eat because I get hungry and I have to consume food for energy, but I really have to be in the right mood, have plenty of time and relax enough and that is not very often. I made a lamb stew from left overs from a roasted lamb that was tough. The stew turned out lovely, though. So, I guess the home made lamb soup/stew I made at Easter.

Just today, for lunch, I had homemade meatballs (with broccoli rabè mixed in) in a tomato, red pepper sauce on a fresh baked, braided roll.

I finished up with a few scoops of the tiramisu my daughter was eating. Heavy on the espresso, like I like it.

YUM!

@Ron_C: I’ve been meaning to try Joe’s Crab Shack. They opened one locally about a year ago. Now I really wanna go.

Hmmmm, maybe for Fathers Day.

Just had Paciugo gelato. O M G! @bkcunningham took the words right out of my mouth. Always soooo amazing! Half the fat of ice cream, and tastes better. Gotta love it. Such a treat. I had Amaretto chocolate chip and mint chip, but I also had a taste of the caramel seasalt and it was unbelievable! My husband had hazelnut that was incredible also. If you have never had it and live near one you must try it.

Nearly every meal my foodie sweetie makes for us is delectable. However, the Mother’s Day / Birthday meal we put together last weekend was perfect. Grass-fed porterhouse steaks, fresh asparagus, grilled shrimp and mushrooms, and homemade potato salad with eggs. All ingredients but the shrimp were local and purchased from the farmers. Fresh ingredients make such a difference!

This past Wednesday, my friend treated me to lunch at her club: http://www.sulgraveclub.org/

The dining room was on par with the (unbelievably gorgeous) building. Everything was delicious, and—because the club is only for women—the portions were just right; marvelous, but small and modestly-sized.

I love Korean food, last week I had the best bibimbap. We also had Korean barbecue. They are both favorites of mine.

Also, a few weeks ago I took my foodie fiancĂ© to Daniel for his milestone birthday. The flavor combinations and the meticulous prep and presentation were wonderful. He enjoyed it more than I did – which made it worthwhile.

I just had two soft-boiled eggs laid yesterday by chickens i know personally. I had to clean the shells before boiling. The yolks were orange and sat up high on the whites. (I know that the chickens had wonderful meals themselves before laying.)

I ate them with freshly ground pepper and whole-wheat unbuttered toast soldiers.

Ambrosial.

About two weeks ago I had dinner at Ohana and oh my goodness, the food was amazing! The only downside is that I ate too much and, at the end, didn’t have much room for the dessert which was to die for! (I had a taste of it and was really mad at myself for not having left enough room for more).
