How can one cope with having had a bad plastic surgery?

Asked by lovelessness (659points) June 28th, 2013

Imagine you made a mistake of getting a nose job. It just happened. You can’t take time back.

It didn’t turn out the way you’d expected it. Your face now looks much less prettier… How can you recover from this trauma?

Let’s also say that you are young with big dreams who care about his/her physical appearance to a certain degree.

You can get a consult with another plastic surgeon to see what can be corrected.

You should definitely wait a few months to see how things settle, how the tissues heal and what everything looks like when the swelling goes down.

Then, if you are still unhappy, see another surgeon for a second opinion.

I hope this is hypothetical :0/

My guess would be to consult another surgeon, like the above posters said.

This is why I’d be scared to have any type of plastic surgery done.

I hope it all works out.

@Katniss, was the nose in that smiley intentional? xD

But yeah wait for it to settle down. I think our quirks define us, though. Maybe it’s that this hypothetical person doesn’t feel confortable in their own skin no matter HOW they look.

lol @rory You’re funny!
Was your lack of nose intentional?

In many cases, if the surgery has gone wrong in some way, it can often be corrected with further surgery. Best to get a second opinion from another surgeon. In extreme cases if the first surgery has gone severely wrong you may be able to sue.

@rory also has a good point; some people are so insecure about their appearance that they can never be satisfied. Lolo Ferrari being a case in point.

You guys wouldn’t believe the list of surgeries that I want. I’d never do most of them though. I’m a chicken shit and I’m not rich. lol

@lovelessness you can just look for another Plastic Surgeon but take your experience as a lesson. You should be very careful in choosing the surgeon. See to it that he has the license and is a member of certain credible Plastic Surgeons Association in your country. To over come your trauma just think more positively, everything will be alright. It’s just a matter of mind setting.
