Why is there so much avatar photograph theft at fluther?

If you’re referring to the Stuart Littles running amok, several of us have adopted a certain user’s avatar as a show of support for her.

Yeah, like a tribute, since the squishy who originally had that avatar left.
This sometimes happens for various reasons. Not really anymore, other than now but it did in the past.
Like the famous YARNPOCALYPSE a few years back when on Easter’s eve, some of us all took YARNLADY’s avatar. Although we totally spammed the whole site all night long with silly questions, and Auggie probably wanted to kill us, it was all in good fun. It happened to other squishies, as little jokes and whatnot, never anything mean. It’s always in positive light of the member who’s avatar gets taken. I’ve never seen it happen for a member who left, but there you go, that’s the reason; a type of tribute/support to her.

I didn’t do it, but it still sucks that she left.

Since the mouse avatar theft has been explained, I’d love to share Astrochuck Day with you. He had no idea many of us planned this day. Jeruba took a bunch of screenshots. I linked to her post with the screenshots. That was a fun day!

Sometimes, as in the YARNpocalypse, it was a poke-in-the-ribs tribute (which YARN-ORIGINAL took in stride with good humor, making everyone love her all the more), sometimes… it is an agreement between a few jellies to adopt another’s avatar just for the hell of it!

If I said something incredibly stupid (again), my jelly friends might adopt my avatar and repeat my comment in every thread. Maybe somewhere under the orange tree and it wouldn’t be an attack.

It would be a “Not laughing at you, laughing near you!” thing.
