Alternatives to Picasa/Photobucket/Flickr for non-safe images?

Asked by Amaroaverno (17points) August 30th, 2013

Hello

Im looking for a online photo backup service that’s free or almost free like the most popular ones out there (Picasa/Photobucket/etc.), but that also allows uploading PG18+ images(nothing illegal off course).
Its not just for a backup purpose ( can use encrypted archives for that and use services like Mediafire/Google Drive/ADrive/etc.), but also to keep my pictures accessible from my other computers without having to download and unzip the whole package.
I have no interests in sharing such photos, just to keep them for a private use.

Well I would recommend Dropbox and the new “Copy” application, but it seems you’ve already ruled out any cloud storage service and it also seems like you’d prefer the ability to access and manage images remotely but not as an entire library in a zip folder or whatever.

SO , my suggestion to you is just set up a personal web server, perhaps get some cheap shared hosting and a domain, and create a gallery of all your images there. You could keep it secure and protected. You’d be able to access it from anywhere, organize them how you want, and if you did ever want to share individual pics, you could just share a link to them.

That’s all I got , good luck.

I use dropbox for that purpose, but just for the record, you are allowed to post adult images on Flickr, so long as you mark them as such. Now that you get something ike a terabyte of storage space on Flickr for free, and you can also set the pics to be viewable to yourself only if you choose, you can pretty much throw everything up there.
