Frozen out of hotmail account?

Asked by skfinkel (13537points) September 11th, 2013

Got a case number, but they referred me back to their main site, and that goes back to where I started. Anything to do, or just never see my messages, etc. again?

I thought that they converted all Hotmail accounts to Outlook.com accounts about 6 months ago.

Yes they did @elbanditoroso but your email account is still XXX (at) Hotmail (dot) Com.

@skfinkel keep on them.

Yes, it’s called outlook. Same thing, same difficulties. Really annoying.

Hey guys here’s what’s up.

Hotmail is a WEB-BASED email service. Well, it WAS a web based mail program, owned by Microsoft. Hotmail has since been decommissioned, and Microsoft’s primary web mail service is now called “Live”. You would have such an email address ”@live.com” for example.

Outlook is still the same thing it has always been – a CLIENT-BASED email service, which means Outlook is an email client, and it runs as an application on your computer instead of the online interface like Hotmail or Live.

Outlook is not an email server. You still have to have an email address to use outlook. It is likely your email is now ”@live.com” instead of homtail, you could give that a try.

Or just jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the world and use Gmail.

@gambitking is wrong. Simply wrong.

Outlook.com replaced/supplanted hotmail as an email service about a year ago.

End of subject.
