[NSFW] Can true hermaphrodites have twice as much fun?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) October 11th, 2013

It strikes me that they must have twice the nerve endings for receiving erogenous stimulation. If properly stimulated, that ought to lead to some spectacular orgasms.

Have you ever read something where a true hermaphrodite reveals how things feel to them? Does anyone know if my twice-the-nerve-endings postulate holds water, or do they just get the same number as us average Joes and Janes, but divided among two sex organs?

From what I have read (I am not an authority by any means) they have the nerve endings spread out amongst the two organs, and since the organs end us as vestigial, they actually have less fun than others.

@zenvelo I hadn’t found any such studies. But medicos are often expounding on what areas of the body can’t feel pain, and they are full off bull. I’m not convinced that on this issue, they know what they are talking about.

@Coloma Fully formed could be interesting. Vestigial—no thanks. And imagine the terrible teens with equal measures of testosterone and estrogen competing for your attention.

@ucme Indeed it does. Indeed it does…

@syz They must seriously enjoy it. They devote a whole day to the nasty dance. But then they move slow no matter what they do.

True hermaphroditism doesn’t result in having fully functional male and female genitalia. Ovaries and testicles originate from the same source so you have one or the other, or one of each in the case of true hermaphrodites, which is very rare. One of them will be non-functional, so it is impossible for even true hermaphrodites to impregnate themselves.

Same for the penis and clitoris; you can have one or the other, or something inbetween, but you can’t have a penis AND a clitoris at the same time. Likewise you can’t have a scrotum AND vulva – again these come from the same tissue. Intersexed conditions usually result in genitalia being ambiguous; something that looks partway between male and female.

I don’t know but I’d like to watch them try. Don’t judge me. You know you’d peek too.

@downtide Thanks. I wasn’t aware that.

@DWW25921 I don’t know about @downtide, but I’ll take the ticket is @downtide doesn’t want to watch.
