What are some resources for a mentaly, and emotionaly damaged HOMELESS man?

Asked by benofzen13 (45points) December 7th, 2013

My life has been crumbling under my feat. I’ll spare the details, but long story short, I am about to be homeless in Minneapolis.

I’m to say the least a bit panicked, and don’t know where to begin. What types of services are available? Where do I find them? Etc.?

Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction!

Here’s a list to start
I know it’s not fun but if you are motivated and get help early I’m sure they will be able to help you with housing and employment services too.
I once had to call a charity to feed my kids. I remember feeling guilty because of the neighborhood I was in. In the end we do what we have to do.
I hope you get help quickly and that you don’t have to sleep on the streets during this unusually harsh winter.

Find Social services, local churches, food kitchens, and keep all of your stuff in a local storage shelter, find winter clothing.

Also- check your local library. Sometimes they have an area that’s full of fliers for local government services. Good luck.

You can also try calling Shelter’s Free Housing Advice Line on 0808 800 4444 (8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 8am-5pm at weekends). This is the national free phone helpline for homeless people and those with housing problems. They can give you details of emergency accommodation, and put you in touch with your nearest housing advice service.

If you are able, please keep us updated as to where you go and what happens. Worrying about people like you and what becomes of you keeps me up at night. I really want to know that you have a roof over your head and food in your belly! Don’t be to proud to accept help. Remember. It’s more blessed to give than to receive. A truly humble person won’t deprive the giver of a blessing.
Show gratitude and don’t waste the gift. Make the most of the resources available to get your life back on track. Stay in touch!

i will be able…. i am thanks to this surge of faith in the caring hands of humanity….

i am regaining faith that i“ll be ok… these resources available… couch surfing, .. what am i so afraid of… yes this is going to be tough… but dimonds are made from pressure… and i am but a diamond in the rough

thank you for your concern…. and your help… and your kind words…. have no fear… food is abundant… even a bum can get a meal if he“s willing to dive for it…

as for shelter…i have faith ill be blessed in grace often enough… and be resourceful of my surroundings on the days i am not….
