Too many to list. First concert at the age of 6–7 in a local sports hall and since been to indoor and outdoor concerts and festivals in Tórshavn (Faroe Islands), Copenhagen, Århus, Ringe (Midtfyn) and Esbjerg (Denmark), Dublin and Cork (Ireland).

Some highlights:
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Foo Fighters
Uriah Heep
Ian Gillian Band
Simple Minds
Fleetwood Mac
Boy George
The Sweet
Creedence Clearwater Revival (although I believe they went by ‘Revisited’ at the time and it was – John Fogerty)
Bon Jovi (x5)
Tenacious D
Ace of Base
Boney M
Sabrina (yes, the one from the 80’s)

Various performances at the Cygnet Folk Festival – highlights include Trouble in the Kitchen, Tete, Frencham Smith, Tiffany Eckhardt, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, and Shooglenifty (who played continuously for twenty five minutes straight so they could stay on stage longer when everyone was dancing instead of being kicked off at midnight!).
Eskimo Joe supported by Little Birdy
Jet supported by End of Fashion
Lano and Woodley Goodbye Tour
Disney on Ice
The Wiggles
And the best for last, this concert was the best night of my life and I doubt I will ever top it; Iron Maiden!
I count myself very lucky for a sixteen year old.

I can’t remember all the bands, but I go, on average, to 6–7 concerts a year. A few bands that I do remember are Linkin Park (4 times), Def Leppard, KISS, Aerosmith, Public Enemy, Fort Minor, Styx, Foreigner, Project Revolution (A Lot of Bands), Jay-Z, Kanye West, just to name a few.

Been to quite a few also but no big ones since having kids :-(
The Outfield (1st concert), Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Adams, Huey Lewis and the News, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Blues Traveler, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Barenaked Ladies, Rusted Root, Beck, Bad Religion, 311, Fiona Apple, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, The Chieftains, Nickel Creek, and AfroCelt Soundsystem.
Saw countless other on tours like Lollapalooza, H.O.R.D.E. and WOMAD.
The highlight of my concerts so far…The Grateful Dead (2 shows before Jerrry died).

My very first concert was Depeche Mode at the Rose Bowl, and since then I’ve been to way to many to count. Here’s my incomplete list…

Red Hot Chili Peppers about 8 times from 1989–1993

Ani Di Franco
Jane’s Addiction
Siouxsie & the Banshees
Smashing Pumpkins
Depeche Mode
Jesus & Mary Chain

Not to mention the Festivals like Lollapalooza, Wienie Roast, Acoustic Christmas, etc.

thebeadholder's avatar

@tinyfaery: Great list! When did you see Madonna (my dream concert)?

tinyfaery's avatar

I saw Madonna during the 2001 Drowned tour. It was her first show since 1993, and she did a kind of retrospective of all her styles and albums. It was a great show, and I had fabulous seats at Staples Center. If I had a choice, I would rather have seen the Blond Ambition tour, but only because I was just soo much more into her then.

tinyfaery's avatar

Oh, I forgot Nirvana and Pearl Jam with the RHCP at the Forum in 1992. Ha ha…grunge.

wildflower's avatar

WTF: I love your list!

marinelife's avatar

@wtf Wow, you have a good memory, and you spent a lot of time at music events. Seeing your list made me remember some I left off mine! Also, would that even be possible today with the price of tickets now, which has gone nuts?

whatthefluther's avatar

@Marina…prices are ridiculous now, although I still try to go to one or two a month. I think the most I’ve paid was almost $400 for two seats at the Hollywood Bowl for CSN&Y a year or two ago and sccrowell and I MISSED IT because I wasn’t feeling well.

eambos's avatar

WTF I’d love to have that kind of entertainment budget. Those are some great concerts that you’ve been to.

whatthefluther's avatar

@Eambos…Live music was and still is a passion of mine. When I was younger, nearly every penny of my entertainment budget went to concerts. My collection of recorded music was modest and I did not frequent movie theatres or other types of entertainment venues. And my school and work situation were ideal. I had a very well paying job which allowed me to study so I was able to work significant hours with my employment having actually a positive impact on my studies. Plus I was born and raised in the city which was perfectly aligned with my passion. Los Angeles was (and still may be) the capital of the music industry. It was home to most of the labels, nearly all the recording studios, a significant number of artists and a thousand venues, from the wild, but modestly sized Whiskey a Go-Go on the Sunset Strip to the 20,000 seat Forum in Inglewood. Bands loved to play here and I loved to watch them. And, since it was my passion, I befriended quite a few industry people from label execs, to artists, to venue managers to even ticket agency personnel. I consider myself very fortunate.
