University of Montpellier (UM2)(France) or University of Rennes 1 (France)?(in Engineering fields)

between University of Montpellier (UM2) and University of Rennes 1 (both in France), which one do you choose for MS program in Engineering fields? why?
Please even consider the cities beside the academic reputation)

I have no idea about the quality of either.

But for an intangible factor – Montpellier is a cooler name, and has more dignity to it than Rennes. Rennes is but a single syllable, while Montpellier is three. It’s just more impressive sounding. Sort of like an audible feng shui.

I thought you were asking about the university in Montpellier, Vermont. That I know a little something about.

I live in the UK and don’t know much about any french universities but I’ve heard of Rennes in association with Engineering and Science research.

Montpellier is in the south of France which has better weather and is by the seaside

Montpellier is not by the seaside but it’s extremely beautiful and interesting and the weather is certainly better than it is in Rennes. Go there. Who cares about the engineering department?
Oh wait, you do. Sorry, @zacklandium, there I go again with aesthetic values…..
