CMS for IT Departments?

Asked by danclements (82points) July 8th, 2008

I am looking for a CMS that is tailored to IT departments. I am aware of Spiceworks but I need something that is a bit more customizable. I am thinking of writing my own but with my limited PHP experience I think I would take longer figuring it all out than just to ask and find something. Thanks!

what all do you want to do with it? what features, etc. and does it need to be free?

we use Kaseya which has a lot of features, and it is somewhat customizable, but it is definitely not free like Spiceworks.

Not sure when you tried Spiceworks out, but we’ve recently added some additional customization features with our latest 3.0 release. I don’t know if this will provide enough customization options to meet your needs, but thought I’d let you know!

Thanks for the great answers. I am currently using Spiceworks and don’t really have a problem with it other than the fact that I would like to add an area in the servers area to allow for maintenance logs to be entered such as when alerts happened or when the servers failed a backup. I am just now starting to delve into what all I can do with spiceworks.
