Why do people pay for a domain AND hosting, just for a one-page iPhone app website with their app?

Asked by aaaaaaa (2points) July 8th, 2008 from iPhone

I don’t get why people pay so much just to put the app they created on it. I’m talking about the sites that have no sign-up screen, no links, no real home page. Just the app. My best guess is just so they can publish it to the web. I may be wrong, just guessing.

Because people want to share their creations online with stability and they don’t want their internet connection to be eaten up by serving their site to other people, they get support for their site’s hosting and they don’t have to stick it on some crappy hosting site like freewebs.
