If an automated-system keeps telling me I can't leave a voice-message because the mailbox is full, could I be blocked?

Seriously? Did you need 35 subject topics assigned? Most of which are identical!!

It is unlikely you personally are blocked. Mailbox sizes are set to be pretty small – if this is a business, the mailbox is on a shared server and may tiny.

More likely:
– person was on vacation
– person died
– person never deletes messages, just saves them in his/her box

If you were blocked most phone systems give this message when the ringing end and it is, “The person at this number in not accepting calls.”

If it rings once or twice and sends you to a full voicemail, then yes you are being blocked.

Perhaps send them an email or text?

Welcome to Fluther, and to hell with any concern about tag-overuse. It’s not like we have a shortage, or that they do much of anything. Well, they can, but it may take you years to learn what, exactly, and by then the rules will have changed again anyway.

I suggest that you set up an experiment (yeah, Science!) that can help you tell what the phenomenon would look like:

1. Get someone you know to temporarily block you.
2. Call that person and see what the message is like.
3. For an advanced experiment, get that person to fill his or her voicemail box with un-deleted messages, and then try the same thing.

A full voicemail box is a full voicemail box; I don’t expect that that would have anything to do with a call block. My expectation is that you would only receive the “This person is not accepting calls [from you (?)] at this time.” I doubt if you’d be able to leave a voicemail if you were truly blocked – else what’s the point of a block?

Feel free to test my hypothesis, and we can publish together later.

Try calling them from a public telephone. If you get the same message then no, they’re just lazy about clearing their inbox.
