Would you suggest anything to make the hairs grow longer?

Asked by Khajuria9 (2141points) September 28th, 2014

Can you recommend anything to make my hair grow longer? Actually, my hair was long when I was a kid, but later I suffered from typhoid which made me lose most of my hair. Now the remaining hair on my head is very brittle and prone to breakage. I have had a hair-cut in order to let the new hair grow, but it seems to me that its not working. Moreover, I am tired of multiple split ends along each hair strand, that is terrible. Would anyone suggest any home remedies?

If you’re a woman, you might consider taking prenatal vitamins for a while, as I’ve heard that can help a lot. I suggest talking to a doctor first though, to make sure it’s okay.

Severe illness takes a toll on your vitamin stores. I would take suppliments like A, D and E. If you don’t wish to go that way,eat plenty of fish and fruit and vegetables and get plenty of sun. The following foods should help. Sweet potato, mangos, eggs, salmon, cod liver oil, trout, liver, spinach, nuts like almonds and sunflower seeds. Research and see which other foods are high in nutrients. These are just common things I happen to like to eat.
Are your nails brittle as well? You may be low in some elements as well.
It also wouldn’t hurt to exercise and to also massage your scalp everyday to help increase circulation to your scalp. I know the more I exercise the faster my hair grows.

If I give you an idea for this are you going to give me an idea for male pattern baldness? Because at a recent gathering I put my arm around my brother and my cousin, and said guess which side of the family the hairline comes from. The olive oil treatment in the hair care isle does amazing things for lusture and thickness.

@Adirondackwannabe : why not just olive oil itself?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@susanc I’m guessing it’s a little tougher to get regular olive oil rinsed out. The mix has some surfactants and other ingredients that make it more manageable.

My hair is really such a mess….I really feel bad! :(

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Khajuria9 Hey don’t feel bad. It just happened. You can work on it and get it back to where you like it. It takes some time but it’s manageable. Besides you are so much more than just your hair.

Thanks Dear but I have really been trying hard to make them grow but to no avail. I just feel like crying when I remember my long healthy hairs! :(

Try the olive oil treatment. It doesn’t work overnight, but it does work over time.

The nutrient biotin.

Hair simply cannot grow without it.
