No, not at all. I kinda shrugged.

I have been surprised at all the outpouring of emotion. Other than his Super Bowl appearance, nobody seems to have really listened to him in a long time. He played a few shows here in Oakland a few months back, and they were surprises, but mostly because he had not toured around here in ages.

My son, who is twenty, is also surprised. As he pointed out, nobody had heard him on the radio for years, his songs were never in any kind of “80s/90s” rotation on “oldies” radio stations.

Yes. Terribly so.

Not particularly. Lemmy hurt. Bowie broke me. So did Alan Rickman.

Prince was never a major influence on me, personally, but of course I understand how significantly artists can impact our lives, so I won’t begrudge anyone their mourning.

Not sad. Just “oh another one gone due to heroin/fentanyl.” Note that has not been proven or disproven – it was just what popped into my mind.

He was one of the few musicians out there who actually knew, played and wrote music He studied at Juilliard and was both a talented artist and an excellent self-promoter.

No, just a passing thought that he was only one year older than me. Once you hit your 50’s it seems everyone starts dropping like flies. haha
I liked his song ” raspberry beret”, great little tune, but otherwise, meh…not a fan.

Not in the least, I asked a question on here as soon as I heard purely for the lulz

Totally shocked. I yelled “NO” at the TV upon hearing the news.

I still am.

I’ll be flyin’ to a cry-in at Jesse Ventura Bowlarama tomorrow.

If you don’t believe me, then you can call me lyin’, not-cryin’ Brian.

Would you believe that I’ll be going to a Minneapolis pub named Al Franken Stein? ;-p

No, I don’t know anything about him and I never paid much attention to his music. I am rarely affected by celebrity deaths, but I understand why people sometimes are.

There’s been so much on him in the past few days. Urban radio stations have been playing Prince tributes. SNL did a Prince special where they played his SNL appearances. The whole SNL Saturday 4/23 was about Prince. At my relatives’ in NYC on Saturday, everyone from my 30 year old sister to my 68 year old stepfather was talking about Prince and how talented he was. In the 2000’s, we didn’t hear much from Prince but when I was a teen, he was very popular. When the radio stations were playing his tributes, it really made you realize how popular and talented he was. Ditto with the SNL shows – his guitar playing was phenomenal. His costume designers deserve mention, too, because he was very unique at the time in his mode of dress.

I just saw a headline that I didn’t read that he died with no will so a court appointed trustee will need to be named. Man, what a mess that’s going to be.
