[NSFW] When did you switch jobs and why?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) March 25th, 2017

How many times have you changed jobs? Was it purely for monetary purpose or lack of job satisfaction? When did you think it was time to say goodbye to your current employer? Have you ever joined back previous organisation?

About a year and a half ago. It was a step or two back but with a very secure future and massive stress reduction. It’s already getting boring though. I do have decent work-life balance but I’m better than this job.

I worked at Mcdonalds. I switched to Walmart- I’m a store stocker
I hated Mcdonalds. People were so rude to me for the dumbest reasons. I got called a bitch because the cook forgot to put onions on his burger. I was the cashier. Walmart is way easier because I don’t have to talk to people as much. For the most part, people are nice too.

Well, I’ve worked at a hobby store, at a Honeybee farm, on a maintenance truck in the oilfield, on a welding truck in the oilfield, I had a janitor job and I had a crew of 5 janitors working for me and it was hard to get them to work everyday, but they were nice people.
I worked as a guard at a police station, I worked on a farm cutting hay with a swather, I worked doing maintenance at 2 schools, I worked doing snow removal with a Kubota tractor cleaning parking lots early in the morning, I worked maintaining an airport for a long time and I worked as a driver for a courier company oh, and I tried selling cars for a while and I also own some farm land.
I’ve been working since I was 15 years old doing whatever jobs are available in my area. I’ve done multiple jobs at a time to pay for everything, but I only change jobs if I need more money or more time or if it make’s sense and allows me time to look after my son and take him to school and pick him up and make supper and school lunches and wash clothes and help him with his homework etc.
Being a father is a 24 hour a day responsibility and if he gets sick or doesn’t have school I keep my schedule flexible so I can stay with him, but being a parent has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.
Thanks. : )
