What can save Syria and its common people?

Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) March 2nd, 2018

Here’s the article on BBC about latest bombings which killed hundreds in just last week which involved 100+ children casualties. What can really put a stop to this ongoing war?

Watch the video..it’s even more disturbing and sad.

Assad would have to have a massive change in agenda. Otherwise, he will regain total control. Whatever remains, may not be a place “common people” want to live.

There are no easy answers to a vastly complicated situation. There are too many players, too many competing interests, too much involvement in Syria as a proxy for other conflicts (i.e., Iran vs. Saudia Arabia, Shiite vs Sunni, Russia vs. U.S, Turks vs. Kurds).

And below it all, the genesis of this is global climate change that led to drought refugees pouring into Syria’s urban centers.

It will take a “neutral” party to broker a truce that gets other countries out of Syria, coupled with an investemnt in the region to rebuild both cities and agriculture.

Probably nothing at this point. Here’s what would have to happen.

1) Assad leaves or is killed.

AND

2) Iran gets the hell out of Syria

AND

3) Turkey and the Kurds and Iraq gets out of Syria

AND

Russia gets the hell out

AND

Syria gets a new strong leader with a decent outlook.

Like I said, it will never happen.

When Assad is gone, Syria will become a failed state, and a hive of various islamist factions.
