Is there a screenwriter whose films you make sure to see?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28814points) September 30th, 2018

I’m always on the lookout for a film, new and old that maybe is really worth watching. And behind any good or great film, there’s always that screenwriter who wrote the blueprint, so to speak.

Nora Ephron. Although, I didn’t love every single movie she wrote. Overall, I thought she had a fantastic sense of humor, and I always gave each of her films a chance, eventually making the time to see them. I think I’ve seen them all. I feel like checking now. I think her sister helped her write sometimes.

@JLeslie Yes, I’m a bit familiar with her work and love it. Wasn’t Sleepless in Seattle hers and her sister is Delia?

Not quite sure but could it be she also wrote the script for that film with Streep and Nicholson about marriage infidelity…

Yes, she did Sleepless in Seattle, but that happens to be one of my least favorites of hers, but still good.

I thought Heartburn was brilliant. When Harry Met Sally is probably one of her best known. Silkwood was very good too. She has many more, they aren’t coming to me right now.

A documentary was done on her, it was good if you like that sort of thing.

Clive Barker.

Although he wrote too many Hellraisers, I find most of his work to be fascinating and original.

I really enjoy John Logan’s work, although he’s been a little hit and miss lately
