Why don’t politicians refer to “The Rich” by name?

Asked by josie (30934points) May 3rd, 2019

They constantly say “The Rich” need to pay their fair share, without saying who they are talking about.
Why not occasionally be specific?

“Bill Gates ( Net Worth 100 Billion) needs to pay his fair share”
“Warren Buffet ( NW 82 Billion needs to pay his fair share”
“Nancy Pelosi ( NW 100 Million needs to pay her fair share)
“Lady Gaga” (NW 300 Million…...”
Etc.

There are so many rich Americans naming just some of them doesn’t sound fair.

The politicians I know of spend most of their time naming names. But I’m curious why you think this is important. Is there something about making things about personalities rather than policy and economics that is attractive to you?

“The Rich” are already paying over 85 percent of all the taxes paid.

No amount of rich people could pay for all the programs being proposed related to the “Green New Deal” and the free college tuition and Medicare for all, citizen or not—many of these programs would evaporate the confiscated wealth of all “the rich” in a matter of months,

Maybe they don’t want to say their own names, or the names of those to whom they are beholden?

Interesting choice of people – all liberals
How about:
Jeff Bezos – $114 billion
Rupert Murdoch – $19.5 billion
Robert Kraft – $6.2 billion
Tom Brady – $180 million
Clint Eastwood – $375 million
Rush Limbaugh – $590 million

@LostInParadise Rush is anti-Obama, anti-liberal and a coke nose.

Clint Eastwood is definitely not a liberal either!

Nobody on the list is liberal. That was my point
