For a person who is working in front of LCD for 8 hours a day, what can protect his eye sight?

How can one protect his vision even being in front of LCD and crt for 8 hours a day.

You can put a protective screen on top of your monitor, to prevent eye strain.
Also, take breaks.
Eight hours straight sounds unhealthy.

20–20-20 rule. The rule says that for every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, a person should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds

There are extensions on Chrome that put a sort of reddish filter on your screen.

Turn the contrast down.
