he thinks a lot in the Nostradamus prophecies, the one that says something about the first black pope, he thinks that it could be the first, you know, Obama could be that person, not that it would be the pope of course, but he one that Nostradamus was talking about… about the power of rule something big was of a black person, he also says that if the end of Obama’s presidency will be in 2012 i think, thats when the aztec calendary ends, he is kinda scary, something hard to believe from him, his doesnt go to church, neither believe in many things, but he say hes got a point, what do you think? i know it sounds crazy!!! LOL, just wanted to know what the collective have to say about it…

If it’s a prediction (which I do not believe in), then it is fated, and not much to be done. You can’t thwart the will of fate.

Meanwhile, we have a chance to elect a fantastic leader to the presidency. I would just take a chance, and see where we are in 2012—after only four years. Then we can reelect Obama, and see where we are in 2016.

Don’t worry, be happy.

i have a weird feeling too, not about the pope thing. But a weird feeling about him.

I’ve got a weird mccain feeling… So what now?

LOL, no richardhenry!!!i meant that nostradamus said something about a black pope, so my husband say that a black president in such a powerful country, maybe something about that,,,

Nostradamus made all kinds of predictions…I personally think it’s all hog wash, I can make all kinds of vague predictions of the future as well. Doesn’t mean I can see into the future.

Psssh…most of Nostradamus’ prophecies haven’t come true…even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

There have been black rulers in other countries. Anyone can take a guess at something. Here’s one, write this down “in 3014 we will come across (discover) a giant sphere (planet) inhabited by creatures we have never seen (mystery animal).

I even translated for you guys. Now let’s sit back and see if I become famous.

Seriously though, anyone can make a guess at anything and be remotely right. Just live life and let things that you can’t control go. Worry about what you can control.

If Obama does win, and the world doesn’t end in 2012, will your husband stop believing in that baloney?

Your husband needs to start reading Skeptic magazine. It will really help him learn how to read through nonsense like Nostradamus.

I hope there aren’t too many people out there that are voting for McCain for the same reasoning.

If I was voting, I’d vote for Nostradamus, using the write-in option.

Have you (or your husband) actually read anything Nostradamus wrote? Do both of you a favor. Find a few Nostradamus “predictions”. Then actually read the poems from which the “predictions” were made. If you can figure out how they got from point A to point B, I’ll eat my hat. They’re just poems…bad ones at that, and they don’t say any of the things people claim they do. I was fascinated by this when I first heard about it so I bought a book about it, and I’d read what Notradamus wrote, then I’d read the “interpretation” and I was like, what are these people smoking and where can I get some.

I’ve got a prediction for you. If Obama DOESN’T win, 4 more years of failed Republican (mis)leadership will pretty much pound the last nail in the coffin of this great experiment we called America.

@dalepetrie: You speak for me, too!

Thanks for the eloquence.

@Randy: Yeah, there have been black leaders of other countries, but none as powerful as the U.S. Think about it, the pope is in charge of a whole sect of a religion.

susanc's avatar

Pathetic.

Randy's avatar

@Wine: my main point was that prophecies are like puzzles. You can hammer and make it seem like it goes a certain way, but that doesn’t make it right.

On the color note though, China has a Chinese ruler and they are pretty powerful. Are you saying that black people can’t rule powerful countries?

JackAdams's avatar

I think too many folks have bad memories of Idi Amin Dada (d. 2003), a black leader of a nation.

I’m worried that Obama is worried about Auto Workers (based on his speech last night). If there ever was a group of workers who f**ked themselves they are it. Did old Nostro say anything about them? I wonder if the pope is worried auto workers too….

Tell your husband that he is just being silly.

Nostradamus also allegedly predicted a massive Midwestern earthquake in the late 1980s that would have wiped out several states. We’re all still here, so I wouldn’t worry about anything Nostradamus supposedly predicted.
