Is there anything better than spring steel to make these type of tools?

I remember that the teacher cut big chunks with a wire.
But that doesn’t stay in its shape (circle, lasso, etc.) , of course.
Did I hear once about a metal alloy with memory?
Maybe that exists in wire form?

@rebbel -That is the easiest way to cut away large chunks for sure.
I wonder if there is a wire that one could temper with heat? THAT could be another way to make them. :)
Although one could cut fine strips of the metal to make thin ones too ,but that would be a pain to do, I imagine.
