For the first time in my memory, they are moving trick or treat night to Saturday November 2 due to bad weather. Have they ever moved or canceled trick or treat in your area and if so, for what reason?

Asked by chyna (51307points) October 30th, 2019 from iPhone

Trick or treat night is moving. That means candy will be in my house longer and calling my name. This is due to winds expected at 50 miles an hour. Kids today…wimps.

They moved it because it interfered with a high school football game. XD

Eat all that candy & when the little brats rock up yell…
TOO LATE LOSERS!!”
Then slam the door in their shocked faces.

It wasn’t officially moved but Halloween was a bust in 2012 when it occurred two days after Hurricane Sandy!

My old town used to do trick or treating on the Saturday after 10/31…unless the 31st was on Saturday or Sunday.

@chyna: I believe your town is about 45 minutes from my town.

I’ve been looking at local FB groups for the past two days and there have been so many discussions about Halloween and the weather forecast. Some say move Halloween to Friday, some say that we, when we were kids, dealt with all kinds of weather for our trick-or-treating.

Where I live, houses on a lake that used to be summer houses, there’s a pavilion building and an option for kids and adults is to hang out there, give away candy inside the building, and have some snacks, probably like a party. Other adults are going to stay home and be available for the kids there. We’re staying home and taking our chances that kids will show up.

I remember after Hurricane Sandy, there was snow on the ground and no power here. My mom’s house had no power either. We went to an area near her where there was power, and did some trick-or-treating. My daughter was 5. That night we got one of the last hotel rooms at the Doubletree in Tarrytown. It was so nice just to have heat and lights.

@jca2 @chyna lives far, far away from you.

Oh, ok, @janbb. I thought we used to be friends on FB. Maybe I thought she was someone else.
