What to do if sound icon on a desktop doesn't produce sound?

Have you rebooted lately or messed with it? Speakers or laptop? Check speaker wires if desktop.

It might be broken.

I’d start by powering down my computer & then restarting. IF that doesn’t work…Right click on your speakers icon & choose “Troubleshoot sound problems”. It will walk you through what you need to do,
