It’s about as innocuous a campaign tactic as she could invent.

Anything to replace Betsy she is as bad a Trump and twice as dumb,(if that is possible).

No, she is not harming the Dems, she is showing that the Dems are more open minded and have a big tent.

It will neither harm nor help Warren. She has said she will send the justice department after Trump and basicallyput him away forever once she is out of office. That’s about all she has to stand on.

If you don’t know how to pick someone who would create a welcoming environment for all you aren’t fit for the position.

It is disingenuous pandering.
She is letting a child in for disappointment just in hopes of gaining votes.
This is a dirty play to make

@Yellowdog You are so misinformed it is laughable. Warren has detailed plans for everything. You may not like them but to say she stands on nothing is pathetically ignorant.

It’s a Warren thing…

I don’t agree with it. ...

But. There have been worse ways, of choosing this candidate…

I have Republican friends sending this and similar articles around either stating again how flaky and pandering Democrats are, and unfortunately there are a few who are not very accepting of the trans community, and that’s more mean spirited, but mostly it’s just the flaky.

I can’t blame them for scooping this up as flaky. Any Democrat I elect I expect to be able to hire an Education Secretary who will be sensitive to all minority groups, and help create environments where all children feel safe to attend, accepted, and equal opportunities for a good education.

I do think this sort of pandering hurts Democrats, because it makes some Republicans and Independents shake their heads and trust us less to be adults and leaders.

If she wants someone trans to be part of her screening process then it’s not so terrible, but I just find it an annoying campaign promise.

It’s definitely pandering and a little cringey, but all politicians pander. I don’t see this as especially bad. Trump’s religious pandering is just as cringey but it works. So I doubt this will harm Democrats.

Everybody who doesn’t think the Senator is crazy will not care will think it’s great.

Everybody who does think the Senator is crazy will just say -Well, it figures…

In other words, no effect.

Warren doesn’t represent all Democrats, so, no.

In my opinion the dems have done a three years and still counting self immolation on the world stage.

I think Biden, and Sanderson, have pulled ahead of Warren. So. It probably won’t matter.

Does anyone know the specific kid?

Jons_Blond's avatar

^I believe she was referring to a trans kid who was at one of her town halls. He’s a great kid. His mother is in my support group for trans parents.

You are right. Warren won’t get the nomination. It’ll be Biden or Sanders.

MrGrimm888's avatar

^Cool. Warren isn’t stupid. She must have seen something, in the kid…
