What might your own personal "new normal" look like?

Asked by ucme (50047points) May 9th, 2020

Yes, a covid related question…blah blah!

We’re being told that a phased relaxing of lockdown will lead to a “new normal” where mask wearers surround you & you can’t even see if they’re smiling :D
Social distancing will remain in place for the foreseeable & various other trends.

We will continue to have (masked) staff for that.

Not here in the national park system, hardly any are wearing masks except the clerks at the grocery stores.
No outsiders are allowed in the Park unless an emergency or delivering groceries to the stores.

It is nice and peaceful however inside our seniors apartment complex some are not taking isolation well, and it is those that break the rules in regards to groups meeting together on the patio..so now the patio chairs etc are closed off.

The noise level in the late evenings have stopped as a group here get together and drink all night getting rowdy…yes some seniors till do that!( and these are the ones that sleep all day as a result.
I have so much that I want to complete on my plate that it doesn’t bother me about this isolation, as we can still go hiking if one wants to..however it is dangerous on ones own as its Calving season as the Elk are caving now and the females will attack if inadvertently one comes across its baby in the tall grass.

Probably a lot more like the old normal than some folks have been wishing for.

I am not going to go quietly into a post Covid Brave New World, to the extent that I have any influence over that at all. Someday, there is going to be giant mask burning party. I’ll be there.

Having said that, I got rid of the 5 day stubble, and shave regularly. People seem to like it. Maybe I’ll continue with that. I’ve gained 5 pounds. That is gone as soon as the gym opens.

More money into food and less on discretionary spending for every thing else. Better hygiene with better soap.

Being locked up down in a bunker, perpetually entrapped withing a nebulously defined gameshow, with a presenter periodically reminding me and my fellow players to stay indoors and not mention “the event”.

Same as before. But there probably be restrictions on drinking Romulan Ale.

Learning how to sew; better understanding of why soap works; better at the “smize”; waving more often; more interactions with strangers where we’re both doing what we can to communicate kindness to one another (waving as you cross to the other side of the street, for example); dry hands and lots of lotion; continued concern for how everything plays out; hope that when we look back at it, science, solidarity and good sense were what led the response.
