What criteria do they use to decide who gets registered?

It is connected with driver license renewals. No driver’s license no automatic voter registration.

“How Does Automatic Voter Registration Work?

Oregon was the first state to implement an automatic registration system in 2016. In Oregon, voters are automatically opted into registering if they interact with the DMV. The DMV office will send a notification to the voters informing them of their registration. Voters can opt-out by returning the notification.

States have used mainly four ways to register voters. These are

Agency provides postcard:
The DMV gives eligible voters a postcard at the agency. The card states the information provided will be used to update their voter registration information or to register them to vote. Eligible voters can sign and return the card if they want to opt-out.
Agency sends postcard via mail:
Here, the agency sends voters mail informing them that they will automatically be registered to vote unless they opt-out by signing and returning the card before a certain date. Alaska is one of the states that use this method.
“Opt-in” registration at the agency:
Here, voters give information needed to register to vote during their interaction at the DMV. This is done through an electronic screen that asks citizens if they would like to register to vote.
“Opt-out” registration at the agency:
California and Rhode Island are some of the sates that follow this process.

The way I’ve read it, it is tied to any interaction a citizen has with the government. Driver’s license is the most prevalent and obvious, but tax rolls, welfare, Medicaid, etc etc are also used.

^^^^^ That would be more just. As people have noted some people can’t get driver’s licenses.

Each state is different but it does require a direct interaction with government.

@Dutchess_III It doesn’t. Eligible citizens must individually register with their county registrar. Do this in one state only. Did anyone else see the liberal who said registries can’t purge dead people from the rolls as that is voter suppression.*Gotta love it!

@si3tech 20 states plus DC already have it.

@Dutchess_III How it works is: Get q bunch of people to register on several areas and multiple times usng maiden name and married name. this is working peerfectly BECAUSE None of it is ever verified Not DOB.citizen statue and address. Check it out.

I call bullshit and you can’t prove it.

Sources please @si3tech

PS I think your imagination is working overtime.

I think it might vary by state. It is like who gets called to just duty. I think in some states it is tied to ID, but other states homeowners, tax payers, driver’s license, all will get you on the rolls.

@si3tech Bullshit. You think people are getting two driver’s licenses with two different names and buying two houses with two different names? What exactly are you proposing? Plus, why do you think requiring registering is foolproof? In your mind can’t people register three times with three different names then?

@si3tech ”... this is working peerfectly BECAUSE None of it is ever verified…”
– More like this is something someone made up, because it IS verified. e.g. When I got my ballot questioned because the signature on my ballot seemed to have drifted from the signature on my registration card I filled out when I was a teenager and my signature has changed over the years.

I don’t think @si3tech even votes.
