What if Aliens came or already did come to Earth?

Asked by MrBlogger (382points) September 12th, 2008

Okay well I was wondering what would happen if aliens came to earth? I’m a person who believes in lots of things and I don’t dismiss things so quickly. I’ve seen some pretty weird things in my life. I know lots of things are real for example ghosts, telekinesis, physics I know they’re real because i’ve seen them all with my own eyes. Now I was wondering why all of a sudden after many many many years of man on earth not getting anywhere suddenly technology explodes in the last 75 years and gets more and more advanced each day since? I know people who say their are already aliens on earth and who helped us and look almost exactly like us which is why nobody can tell. Have you ever really experienced anything paranormal? Your thoughts. Please share.

“They” are already here.

I arrived several years ago.

Les's avatar

Well I for one am an avid believer in physics as well.

Now, ghosts, I’m not so sure about.

MrBlogger's avatar

Im positive ghosts exist. I guess I should have said spirits. And JackAdams are you being serious or joking around?

sacaver's avatar

it would certainly cause a lot of people’s world view to change…

MrBlogger's avatar

@scaver Hmm maybe it already has..

Les's avatar

I’m not saying there aren’t other life forms out there. I just find it very hard to believe that anything as cognizant (or supposedly, more so) than us would find nothing better to do with their time than come and bug a bunch of humans. And why the big conspiracy, then? Are the aliens in cahoots with our governments in that they do not reveal themselves to anyone but some strange country bumpkins in the middle of no where? This makes no sense.

sacaver's avatar

No. I’m pretty sure this planet would go a taco shy of the combo platter should it be proven aliens exist. We’re a nutty place, but not THAT nutty.

MrBlogger's avatar

Well I wouldn’t really say bug but more help. They’ve actually helped us. They act as if they were born here and is like you and me. (what i heard)

Les's avatar

@mrblog: Ehem. I need proof. Otherwise, without proof, I refuse to live my life thinking that there is a giant conspiracy of aliens out there. Now, if you bring me Mulder, I may have to change my mind.

MrBlogger's avatar

This is pretty off topic but has anyone read the books “Conversations with God”? If you’ve heard of The Secret this is pretty similar but was written before The Secret. One man had a horrible life, he would sit at home and complain about his life. He wrote a letter to god saying why was his life so bad. Then he responded. He used the mans hand and a pen for their form of communication. This was a true story. He sold toons of books and even got to make a movie about it. In this books it reveals allot of secrets to life that people find full of baloney. Their are LOTS of things that can’t be proven yet people are 100% sure that they’re right. Listen believe me i know what im saying when I say ghosts, and things like telekinesis exist. Its just now everything that’s on tv causing us to believe that it can never happen in real life.

MrBlogger's avatar

If you still dont believe me you should give the Ouija board a try. Wow that was a scary experience.

Les's avatar

Hey listen, you asked the question. “Your thoughts. Please share.” So I gave you my thoughts. I respect you opinion that these things are real, but please respect mine that I am not willing to accept these things are real until I see some proof.

MrBlogger's avatar

Alright im sorry sometimes I do that and get carried away. Its just, not everything can be physically proven. Because it hasn’t been proven doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist

Les's avatar

I understand that. But that’s why I’m a physical scientist. Unless I can feel it or measure it, I can’t know for sure it exists.

MrMontpetit's avatar

One thing that I don’t believe in is when people say they see UFOs. Because considering how close we are to create things much like the invisible cloak from Harry Potter, but still can’t fly anywhere past mars, wouldn’t lifeforms with the technology to fly from another galaxy to earth also have the technology to cloak their UFO or ship?

AstroChuck's avatar

Only humans are narcissistic enough to believe that highly intelligent, advanced beings would travel trillions of miles and then, when they land on our planet, their first impulse is to grab some Cletus and stick some flashlight up his ass.

MrBlogger's avatar

Well most people who say they’ve seen them describe them moving extremely fast. For them it wouldn’t be so far to come to earth. Listen im just trying to heat up the discussion here. Im interested in learning about what other people think and their experiences. I know for sure aliens exist. It would be a tad ridiculous to think we’re the only ones in the large space.

El_Cadejo's avatar

I agree with Les if there were aliens(not dismissing the existence of them out there somewhere, just not here) why would they only appear to people that we see as well “crazy” it makes no sense at all.

As far as ghosts and telekinesis i say POPPYCOCK

and you believe in physics? Uhhhh whats your point? Is there anyone here who doesnt?

sacaver's avatar

Points to Astro!

@MrB: proof! If you know 100% that aliens exist, go public with it. Just please don’t show us a freezer with monkey suits.

MrMontpetit's avatar

@ AstroChuck, they could be simply exploring the universe, as we are tying to. Then fall upon some foreign planet with other lifeforms (humans) which are aliens to them. They decide to perform some tests on these “Aliens” (humans), to find out more about us.

MrBlogger's avatar

I guess i typed it wrong. I think its psycic. You know like people who claim to see the future. Those people.

MrBlogger's avatar

You see if I did go public with it people would think i’m crazy! That why we think that they are the crazy ones! When in fact most are not.

sacaver's avatar

You aren’t crazy if you show up, hand-in-hand, with a little gray man at a TV station.

MrBlogger's avatar

Great answer MrMontPetit! I agree completely. If we were much more advanced we would try and discover other places too

El_Cadejo's avatar

We wouldn’t think you were crazy if you had legit proof. Thing is no one has. EVER. This is why we think your all just a bunch of crackpots.

“HEY LOOK I GOTS ME A BIGFOOT”

Les's avatar

Methinks there may be a conspiracy right here on Fluther. Anyone find it strange that MrBlog Man keeps getting GAed? Even for his correction of a mis-type? Hmm…

loser's avatar

If so, I’m sure they’d love Fluther!

MrMontpetit's avatar

@uberbatman But it just seems logical. Through our whole galaxy, and outside of it, do you really think we are the only ones? And then people may bring up the point “Well what’s the chances they happen to find OUR planet out of all the other ones” They could just be exploring, going to different planets, then finding one with lifeforms on it.

sacaver's avatar

@mb: the “facts” with any good conspiracy theory are like the end of any good rainbow. Try hard as you might to get there, it’s always just that much further ahead of you. Must be them leprechauns.

@les: yeah, I noticed that, too.

MrBlogger's avatar

Its very hard to prove things like that. Just like trying to prove life on other planets. Even with the hundreds of tests of trying to prove psycics but have all failed even though there are indeed people who have this ability. I guess their are some things that just cant be proven

MrBlogger's avatar

Just my opinion

Les's avatar

Give that man a “Great Answer!”

MrBlogger's avatar

I think your soft of dancing away from the topic. I do get great answers because my friends on fluther who I know give them to me for fun but not I will surely tell them to stop. Anyways has anyone experienced anything paranormal? hehe

El_Cadejo's avatar

@MrMontpetit look at my first answer ”(not dismissing the existence of them out there somewhere, just not here)” i do believe they very well can be out there somewhere. The galaxy is huge and to say we are the only ones seems naive but i highly doubt they are here.

MrMontpetit's avatar

Sorry batman, I only read the “We wouldn’t think you were crazy if you had legit proof. Thing is no one has. EVER. This is why we think your all just a bunch of crackpots.” answer. But if you do believe so, what are you debating?

MrMontpetit's avatar

Uberbatman, after re-reading your 1st answer, I thought of this. It’s not that the “aliens” only appear to certain “crazy” people. It’s that when they appear, people see them before being “crazy” or even thinking aliens even existed . But then after they see the “alien” or whatever they see, they start to tell people about it. Then that is when people start to call them crazy or a crackpot.

MrBlogger's avatar

I guess their is no legit way to prove those things. (sigh) whatever I have nothing more to say.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@MrMontpetit no, im pretty positive even if i was 100% sure i saw an alien i would be able to express myself in a way that didnt make others on to think i was a raving lunatic.

MrBlogger's avatar

Well maybe uberbatman but you see some people think that they will go in history books or maybe even be famous for their discovery. They dont stay calm. Even if some people are calm about it and aren’t crazy, people still find them lunatics for even thinking such things exist.

sacaver's avatar

@MrB: Proof consists of physical, tactile, data. If it’s an alien, either their body (dead/alive, doesn’t matter) or their craft. Get that to a TV station and I guarantee you’d go to the national feed faster than a speeding white SUV in LA. If it’s a ghost, again, get that stuff on TV. (And, no. That nonsense posing as “science” on the SciFi channel doesn’t count!)

If you have the proof, and it’s 100% solid, you won’t have any problem getting a reputable journalist(s) involved.

MrBlogger's avatar

Thank you sacaver but you see people have done that. Many people, but people just don’t want to believe it. Their is much proof about many things in life people refuse to believe.

MrMontpetit's avatar

There is a difference between people who claim they saw an alien lifeform and people who are paranoid like crazy, and claim everything the government does is a conspiracy. Those people are the crazy ones.

MrBlogger's avatar

If someone time traveled to the past and showed people our technology they would never believe it. Moving pictures (the tv), talking to someone through a box with large distances between each other (the telephone) and even now our scientists have even come up with invisibility! Some things may be hard to believe but you shouldn’t dismiss something so quickly.

sacaver's avatar

Uh, I have lived 40 years on this planet, and not once have I seen anyone march a bug-eyed little dude in front of a camera. Not once have I seen anyone take a camera up to, much less inside, an alien craft. Not once have I seen someone produce scientific proof of the paranormal.

Now, I have seen people put videos up depicting a scene which has a dead “alien” in it. I have seen videos of strange lights in the sky. And I’ve seen a bunch of yahoos run about with the night vision and scream and holler about being spooked in the dark. None of this proves anything other than the genius of P.T. Barnum when he said, “There’s one born every minute.”

And if someone had advanced technology on display, and it worked, then it is 100% believable. That’s the kind of proof that us skeptics want to see!

If the “truth” is out there, bring it. Quit hiding behind excuses. Get it to the world.

MrMontpetit's avatar

I’m not saying that there is cold hard proof, but it’s already been put out the world, and continuously is. One guy going out there and saying “Hey guys, I believe in aliens” won’t change anything. There is tons of shows, even some channels specifically for it, there are sites, videos, books, magazines, and other kinds of media or information, for lack of a better term, advertising alien life forms. People saying “Get it to the world” and “Go public with your theory”, it’s already public, and out to the world. People just refuse to believe.

MrMontpetit's avatar

Question to the asker of this question. Was this supposed to be a “Do you believe in aliens” question, or a “How would the existence of aliens effect the world” type of question?

MrBlogger's avatar

Yeah your right. But think about it. Their are so many people on tv moving things with their minds, performing “miracles” with efficient proof but still people refuse to believe. For example look at Criss Angel. Even though most of his tricks are magician tricks and some stunts are faked their are still plenty other things he does that are real. Really anyone can do these things they just need to train their mind. Their is lots of proof if you just look around. If you search a little their are many people capable of communicating with a dead relative or guardian angel yet many people still refuse to believe them. Anyways im out. Getting tierd. Peace. We’re not really hiding behind excuses. Skeptics are the ones creating them in order to convince themselves its not real.

MrBlogger's avatar

Yes exactly! Tooons of shows on tv! But apperantly “What’s on tv doesn’t exist.”

MrBlogger's avatar

Even though I respect how people think whats on tv doesn’t exist because it can be easily faked. I know im a visual effects artist and graphic designer. It doesn’t mean its always just nonsense.

Randy's avatar

Alright, so if these aliens are living among us, giving us all this technology, how come we don’t find them when one dies? Are they like the yeti? Do they drag off and hide or even eat the bodies of their own?

Have you ever heard of movies? They make things on tv that look real but are really fake. Anyone can do it. “be mesmerised by this hand while The other hidden one does a trick”...

MrMontpetit's avatar

The thing that bugs me is that if people can’t understand something, or can’t find any real proof that it’s real, they automatically discard it as fake, or not real. Even though they don’t have any proof that it’s fake, either.

MrBlogger's avatar

Well they look almost exactly like us just living here like a human being.

MrBlogger's avatar

It’s really tv messing with our heads. This is why nobody believes in phsycics or anything like that.

MrMontpetit's avatar

MrBlogger, and how do you know exactly what they look like? Who are you to say WHY people are skeptic?

Randy's avatar

What exactly does “almost” mean?

I believe in God and I can’t prove to you that he exists. Everyone choses to believe what they want. You might be right, but you can’t prove it. Most of human kind believes it’s just to far of a stretch to be true.

MrBlogger's avatar

I never really said I was 100% sure that aliens exist. Only just spirits, phsycics, stuff like that. Anyways if im wrong about this alien thing then im wrong. Dont just dissmiss things so quickly. Keep an open mind.

8lightminutesaway's avatar

its spelled psychic, and “their” is possessive, “there” is not.

MrBlogger's avatar

Im really just trying to get to people opinions. Im trying to heat up the disscussion! :)

MrBlogger's avatar

oops sorry i’m just trying to write fast. kind of

8lightminutesaway's avatar

just tryin to help :)

MrMontpetit's avatar

@Randy, too far of a stretch for us not to be the only life forms in the whole universe? And that we are not the only life forms trying to find out more about the universe we live in? Doesn’t seem like too far of a stretch to me.

Randy's avatar

I don’t know if there are life forms out there or not. I haven’t seen enough evidence to say either way. I’m talking about aliens being here now or just occasionaly visiting.

And again, that’s your choice to believe that and that’s fine but you don’t have to say that we are wrong and having a closed mind on an issue that can’t be proven.

MrBlogger's avatar

Im going to say this again. “Im really just trying to get to people opinions. Im trying to heat up the disscussion! :)” I never really said people were wrong. I just kept saying why we should quickly call things fake or non existent. If im wrong then im wrong. Just try and keep an open mind.

MrBlogger's avatar

shouldn’t**

Randy's avatar

My opinion is that it’s bologna. Now, to answer you actual question, I think if some alien life form showed up, people would panic and a select number of folks would try to destroy them causing them to get upset and retaliate which would eventually lead to the destruction of man kind. There ya go. =)

tinyfaery's avatar

It sure would explain a lot. I’ve met so many people who obviously come from some other world.

allengreen's avatar

In all fairness, there could be beings we don’t know about. I used to live in Waikiki, and some of the freaky friends I had could have been aliens.

JackAdams's avatar

Would you like a little bit of PROOF that aliens from other planets are already here on Planet Earth?

OK, here it is:

The USA used to set aside a finite amount of taxpayer dollars for SETI. They no longer do so.

Why?

Because of the following scientific principle:

“You do NOT continue to fund the search for something, AFTER it has already been FOUND.”

sarapnsc's avatar

They have come, and now they live amongst us. Omarosa is proof !!!!!!!!!!!!

Aliensssssssss haaa , You know wat is alien , Walking in one day 2 hour , open eyes 24 hour , For them our 178 Days is One day .
They are already much more advance then our past , But not advance from our future
Thats why they dont come out and they dont show up.

bluestar's avatar

wow you are popular!Anyways I belive there are aliens on this planet, but in the backround with the goverment! They are tied up with the illumanti(new world order)I come to belive that there is intelligent life far more advanced than us,they acually created a ufo govement back in 1923,funny thats when the first computer came out! Think about it how could 1 man invent something so exquist. The goverment covers it up!They have since
day 1!Why do you think this wold is in a ression right now,and the goverment is doing nothing about it!All they really need to do is print new money I mean come on is that so hard to do?No!They are using the funds to buy new technoloy for the future!!! youll see, because we are aliens to them and our money is like gold to them just like technology is gold to us!(trading) thats what the indains and the pilgrims done, chinese and italian etc.9/11 was supposibly coverd up to do with aliens go on youtube.com look for 9/11 wtc
conspericy. They do not want to scare this world by telling us the truth!I know for a fact aliens exist.I was coming back home 1 day from maine ma.
when I encounterd a space craft around 9–10pm When I looked up to the dark sky and spotted a round silver looking ship it had 8 round red lights at the bottom of the craft, and was staying still in mid-air,for about 5 min.The 8 red lights appeard to be moving clockwise at a slow rate, and then dipped (took off) within blink of an eye, that is as fast as light speed,or 2938mph,and to my understanding nohing on earth can reach that capacity of speed! Not even a rocket car,and most deff. not a plane the fastest car in the world can only reach 500mph as far as they tell us
anyway,so to all the people that think Im some type of crack pot, your just self minded,to dumb to know even if its rite in front of your face calling your name!I hope you get anal probed!lol

RutaD's avatar

Hey! yes I agree with before me! because it was 2 years ago .. I was lying on my bed and looking through the window (round 12–1 in night) when all of sudden around my state over the houses there was a space ship with red 7 light turning clockwise, I though it was magic but it wasn’t I stared at it.. it was scary but at the same time incredible! ... by the way I have proof cause my cousin walked in then like a minute later and she saw it.. we were both amazed! .. we kept it as a secret.. because once we told one person and they though we were crazy! .. but I’m not lying I saw it my own eyes so that’s all.. so people there is aliens.. believe me.

When i was in space my penis became bigger because of the vaccuum and at that moment i became an alien to everyone on earth.

no joke

fathippo's avatar

I cant say ive had any personal experiences (and im kinda apprehensive about having any in case ii get to freaked out) but i do believe in spirits and lots other stuff. But i also know that i get v. carried away with my imagination so you know…
I thought ii say ‘ufos’ before (until i found out what it was), it was that we were on a boat and there were a couple of orange circles of light shrinking and growing then moving into lines and then more came and went etc etc… anyway newspapers and stuff said it was people pissing around with motorised lanterns (=P, sounds interesting but hey).
But some of the stories I’ve read about a lot of different ‘phenomena’, it seems like there is definetley something else to me…
As for ‘aliens’, with a whole universe, and possibly a multiverse (i read this thing might be a loada rubbish but it sounded awesome and very interesting) then we cant be the only things that evolved, and with us not being so fantastically intelligent, then there must be something with higher intelligence than us.
And i never thought about it before but we did seem to suddenly start developing technology, maybe it was because we made the right discoveries and then it kinda led on etc, but what showed us some of this stuff? Was it just a kind of chain reaction or what? i dont know anyway…

Shuttle128's avatar

I hate to bring an old topic out of the hole it’s dug for itself, however I feel that I need to make some important observations.

Lots of people like to cite technology development as an indicator that some outside influence helped us along. However, every technological development we have ever made is painstakingly documented. This argument is being made from utter ignorance. The steps taken to develop every “magic” technology can be read and understood by most laypeople. The thing about technology is that it is self-feeding. The more advanced technology is the easier it is to study and create better technology. Moore’s Law is a very good example of this. Name a technology you think is derivative of alien technology and I’ll explain to you exactly how it was developed.

It is certainly possible that life exists elsewhere in the Universe…..however the possibility that they’d be more advanced than us, or that they’d be able to discover us so soon is most likely very low.

As for other paranormal stuff, James Randi has yet to hand out a reward to anyone demonstrating paranormal activity. All he asks is a simple controlled demonstration…..and no one has ever passed.

Illusions are interesting things…..they are slight of hand tricks, things that appear to be what they cannot be. You cannot believe that magic actually exists because you’ve seen it with your own eyes, that’s exactly the point of magic; to trick the eyes (or other senses). To be reasonably sure of something many different observations must be made under objective conditions. UFO sightings, psychic readings, ghost sightings, and telekinetic demonstrations never fall within these objective conditions. Any time they are subjected to these conditions the paranormal goes away.

I would tend to think Aliens have observed us . I think Astronauts have observed them in space. I do not think they wish to contact us.
Sadly maybe we remind them of when their species was still primitive .
Why would an advanced species want to interactive with beings that still kill each other ?
If you were in their position would you want to contact a race that is still so violent ? They are not sure who to contact . They do not wish to be asked to resolve our conflicts.
I am not sure any government has proof that they exist. I can only suspect that they do .
Governments fear how their citizens wood react if they new they did exist .

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Fact from diction, truth from fiction. I am sure extraterrestrials exist because the logic supports it. I am also sure they are not here, at least in a way us humans will ever see them or know it. I believe as our naturist who go into the wild to study wolves, apes and such, they observed from a distance long and hard, and once they seen how hostile, violent, and paranoid we are to things we can’t understand they would avoid us like a hornets nest. They would know we as a planet and as a species have a lot of growing up to do before we can rise up to the level of meeting them.

earthduzt's avatar

We could possibly living with aliens, one could be working right next to you but we are unable to see them and they are unable to see us. According to string and M theory, they could be residing in one of the 11 dimensional planes, but we just have no access to that plane. Scientists are hoping to prove this theory correct using an LHC and hopefully producing a gravitron. According to calculations if M theory is correct the gravitron could possibly break through our dimension and move into another one (theory is real complicated) Imagine our Universe is on a thin film and there are other films stacked on top and on the bottom, well those are other dimensions that life could be living on. The problem is though if the theory was correct and were produced the technology to rip open ours and get to another, if the other dimension did not obey the same laws of physics we do and you went in there you could be ripped aprt or just vanish altogether. Interesting theory though :)

earthduzt's avatar

My answer to this question would be that…violence is considered o be barbaric and not something an advanced civilization would be into. If an intelligent alien life form were to visit Earth they would have to be far superior to us as far as advancement goes. I personally do not think they would be violent or want to do us any harm, I dont even think it would cross their mind as that kind of think would be way past them. I would think they would be more into science and a much more advanced way of thinking. Now with that said they could possibly do experients on some of us just for biological reasons but not necessarily to harm us.

LandonAdams's avatar

I’m an alien, we’ve been next to you humans for hundreds of years, 9/11 we were there, all the world wars, and yes there will be one more, and we will be there, like we have always been, not only the end is comming but you interesting human beings are ending yourselves. When the world wants an answer, when the world will be in need of help like never before we will not only reveal ourselves but we will help the world, and yes it’s comming, were comming. You guys cross us every day and don’t even take second looks.

Skaggfacemutt's avatar

I think we are the aliens. I think we crash-landed here, and brought our technological know-how with us. Of course, we didn’t have all the materials needed to make a society here like the one we came from, but like Gilligan’s Island, we made do with what we had. As the generations went by, where we came from and who we are became more and more the stuff of legends and religious stories. A lot of our knowledge was lost, as we didn’t have a good way to preserve it and hand it down. Also things came into play, such as different factions breaking away and causing battles over power and control.

Just a thought.
