How do you know if your question has been asked already?

Asked by RayaHope (7448points) February 1st, 2023

Is there somewhere to check to see if someone else has previously asked the same question before I post a question? I never see anything pop up to let me know of similar questions until sometimes after I post or not at all. Is that normal?

It used to come up when you’d ask the question, but it doesn’t any longer.

You can always google it, since the search doesn’t work too well. I just google “fluther _____” and see what comes up.

To me, if a similar question was asked a year or more ago, I will ask it anew, because I figure there are new Jellies here and maybe you can get some new perspective.

Thank you @jca2 yeah, I’m one of those new ones. :)

@jca2 it still comes up to me. It’s just that your wording has to be really specific to match the old questions.

Or maybe search under topics, see if something similar has ever been posted. For example if you ask a Q about jogging or beach combing, look under exercise or beaches, if topics if topics that type come up. Worth a shot anyway.

It hasn’t been lately. Now there is probably 2 million questions asking the same thing.
