What's the strangest thing in your refrigerator right now?

Asked by Dig_Dug (4249points) March 2nd, 2023

I had this reddish orange thing in a bag in my freezer and I don’t even know what it was, so I threw it away. (yuck!)

I learned a long time ago, if it’s in the fridge & you don’t recognize it…TOSS IT OUT!!! I do my best to mark what I’m freezing. I live alone & I freeze a lot of leftovers in individual portions so I can reach into the freezer, pull out a few items & have a dayum good meal with NO effort!!! I cook my meats fresh & reheat my veggies & it cuts down on the stress plus I’m NOT eating the exact same leftovers every meal!!!

@LadyMarissa You’re smart, I mark most stuff but sometimes something gets in there that don’t get marked and kinda gets forgotten. Until I do some “spring cleaning” about once a month or so.

I’ve had one of those reddish things at the bottom my fridge for weeks now and I’ve never had the courage to throw it out.

Heinz Chili Sauce. Not very strange, but I bought it for a recipe and I don’t know what to do with the leftovers in the bottle.

Lettuce no one ate. Don’t know who got it, or why.

I just checked. Nothing strange by my standards. It’s all yummy goodness.
I were to take a stab at the “strangest”, it would be that the pearl onions and capers are getting too chummy.

Lamb and Beef Gyro meat; going to have it on lettuce and tomatoes for dinner.

@Dig_Dug That’s how I learned to throw it away when it’s beyond recognizable!!! It’s also I learned how to get better at marking what I’m saving. I was raised by a Mother who didn’t believe in wasting food; so, if you’re not going to mark it so you know what you got, you really should just throw it away to begin with…NO need to save!!!

Bok Choy I bought last week that didn’t get used before I left for a business trip. When I got home last night, I realized I need to clean out the produce drawer in the fridge and get it to the compost bin.

At one time I had a pre-packaged strawberry daiquiri in the freezer. I had to throw it out (along with other stuff) after our freezer went on the blink.

@LadyMarissa You know sometimes I stick something in there thinking “Oh I’ll use that tomorrow so I won’t worry about marking it” and then tomorrow comes and you forget about it and another day goes by and so on. I do forgetful things like that all the time. I know D’uh, you think I’d learn by now?!
