When do you decide to quit? (NSFW contains swears) (Details Inside)

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24473points) August 18th, 2023

I was triggered yesterday by an Aaron Cleary YouTube video. titled “Lazy” vs. ‘Fuck it”.

It is 36 minutes long if you want to listen to it. It contains swears, and has a republican anti feminist slant.

As Jellies may know I have mental health challenges, and I found relief from Aaron Cleary YouTube videos and books on Amazon. I thought that I was lazy in failing out of university in 1999–2001. Now I wonder if my problems where from not having self respect and trying to please everyone.

I stood up for my self, and worked out in the free gym, ghosted my professors, and got a job as most of my classes reeked of misinformation and useless fluff.

What is a time where you stood up for yourself
, and said “Fuck it”?

Big stuff or small stuff?

I was working on some fixes to the house yesterday; it was either quit then, or get into something REALLY complex and time consuming. I said “fuck it” and decided I could live with it.

On the other hand, if it has to do with my health (physical or mental) I’ll go to the ends of the earth to be well.

After my first hubby began to receive way too much pleasure from beating me & bringing his gf into our home. When I told him I wanted a divorce, he said he would kill me if I left. I looked him dead in the eyes & said go ahead, I’m dead already…just forgot to fall down. I’ll NEVER forget that “oh shit” look on his face when he realized I was MORE than serious!!!

After him, I decided that “fuck it” was a GREAT rule of thumb!!! If I felt it was good for me, that’s the way it was going to happen. Has gotten me through many tight situations!!!

I’ve said “fuck it” several times through my life. The times all had one thing in common: what I was saying “fuck it” to was no longer beneficial to my physical or mental serenity. I got out of the Navy because it no longer met my needs…I wanted a family and spending a bunch of time underwater was not something that promoted a family. I got married and was married for 9 years and realized she was psycho and a threat to the children so I got divorced. Fuck it. I got a good job at a civilian power plant and worked there for 23 years. I found out they were screwing me on pay to the tune of $22,000/year and they weren’t going to change. Fuck it. Got another job. Worked there for 9 more years and was let go in a massive layoff. I realized how stressful my life had been in nuclear power so I decided I would no longer work in that industry. Fuck it. Moved into a job delivering beer and wine. Moved up to a manager position and then got a new boss. A-type personality where A stand for Asshole. Hit a point one day where I was just not going to put up with it anymore. Fuck it. Retire.
