In your opinion do you think the Swift melt down by the rightwing media , hurt Trump come November?

Asked by SQUEEKY2 (23122points) 2 months ago

Personally I hope this madness goes on until then, it’s more than fun to watch .
They (the rightwing media seems terrified of her) just because she encourages people to register and vote, and the right will have nothing of that.
What is your opinion, no mega star has ever convinced me to vote one way or the other.

No. For Trump no news is bad news.

A lot of things hurt the campaign. This is possibly one of many factors to add onto the pile, yes.

Hurt? Doubtful. He is like a greased pig (in more ways then one) – no one seems to catch him.

However, the republican party (not Trump) and its MAGAnistic followers, look even stupider than they already did. They really never learn.

What news do you watch? I watch world news, read world news, then local every morning-this is the only place I hear that nonsenss. We watch Fox, Megan Kelley and all those at least once a week to catch up but literally have not heard a word except from liberals. Its amusing.

The Fox Entertainment channel would NOT have the meltdown by the MAGA followers !

She is almost as rich and doesn’t 91 charges, that could zero out her wealth.

No. The orangutan could rape a toddler on live television, and the magatards would either claim “fake news” or blame the toddler for it, à la “look what she is wearing”.

I haven’t seen it on mainstream media either. Easy to divide people giving them incendiery news, just seems very odd. I’m in a red state with the Chiefs and we all like Taylor and hope they stay together. She’s done nothing but garner positive attention to the game and state. Js. Exercising her right to vote is more important than who she votes for.

@SQUEEKY2 Did you miss it??? Old 45 says he has more fans than TayTay does so he has NO problems!!! I don’t listen to those trying to tell me who to vote for & I NEVER give donations to any politician. . I’ve been a registered voter for over 50 years, so Tay has absolutely NO influence over my vote…just like Ted Nugent didn’t when he told me to vote right or I’d be sorry!!! I ignored the Beatles as well!!!

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Yeah ,I heard him mouth that but didn’t believe it, Taylor has done nothing wrong in telling people to get registered and vote, so good for her regardless who she backs everyone should vote if they are of legal age.

I posted a meme on FB. No one is saying they’ve heard it let alone agree with it. Js

I think this is something spreading more online than on cable/local news (though Fox has covered it). Like a lot of these online trends, they tend to flare out quickly. A goofy conspiracy theory about Taylor Swift isn’t going to sway the election.

@jca2 someone is deflecting . . !

. . and is ignoring the trash the right is putting on Taylor Swift ! !

.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@jca2 I legit hadn’t heard of it, but I trust cnn more than many. That’s just crazy to me, wow. (But I do hope the Chiefs win.)

I believe that the best rule to follow is this:

If a right-wing media outlet (Fox, for example) writes something political,

OR

A right wing politician (expand this to Republican politician) says something.

the opposite is true.

That rule has proven to be correct since the Reagan years.

Biden is almost certainly going to lose. He’s down in (every? almost every?) swing state by a healthy margin. Taylor swift isn’t going to change that. The best thing that could happen in the election is for Biden to slip in the shower and crack his genocidal head on the tile.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@gorillapaws I’ll move to another country . . . or he will move to Russia with all his boxes of secret documents !!

I HAVE heard of the “Swift” issue.
I could be wrong, but I first heard about it on a sports news site. It could have been Bleacher Report? Or maybe the NFL app. I think…

Mainly. There seems to be some fear, that Taylor would tell everyone to vote for Biden, while performing in a halftime show she is no part of.
It’s not so ridiculous. Swift is a powerful social figure. I hear she tries to get her young female fans to vote, and as she is one of countless artists who will not allow Trump to play their music for his campaign.

I do know that the current GOP, is trying really hard to stop a lot of people from voting. They know it’s their safest bet, and they have been trying to mess with districts to stack the deck.

I know that the Dems have their own dirty deeds, but I have not seen them try to stop people from voting.

I’ve been deliberately avoiding ALL Trump headlines, for a bit now. I have grown VERY tired of constantly hearing that “this is it, Trump’s done.” I have to hear that almost daily, although it’s pretty clear to me, Don is indeed Teflon.
Trump has no plans of accepting the results of the election. He didn’t even accept that he won the first time, because he lost the popular vote. No GOP candidate has won the actual popular vote, since GWB, got 50.7% (over John Kerry.) Thus. The GOP is just reading the tea leaves. So. Their strategy is to attack democracy, and all media that supports it.

Biden skipped the Presidential SuperBowl speech again. That would indicate that he doesn’t consider the SB an opportunity to win votes.

No. It doesn’t seem like politics is playing a big role in the SB. If Swift goes after Trump, it’ll be on her own accord.
The truth is that “Swifties,” are mostly white females who make less than $50,000/year (Google.) Lots of men too. But I just cannot understand why a female would vote for any current GOP candidate. Republican leaders are set to continue removing women’s rights, at their earliest convenience. The SCOTUS is stacked with 6 of 9 justices being conservative.
Lawmakers, and judges in lower places than the Whitehouse have been installed as well.
All of the pieces are in place. They just need Trump to win. And Trump needs to win, to stay out of prison.

Trump’s media won’t get in trouble for targeting Swift. But it could absolutely hurt him in November ‘24.

When I first became politically active, I heard that historically, when voter turn-out is higher, it favors liberal/progressive candidates. This was long before the conservative-liberal axis aligned with the political parties as it is today. It still seems to hold true today. So any effort to increase voter turnout, even if the effort is not politically aligned, might be seen as a threat to Conservatives.
