Can I switch my iPhone from AT&T to Orange in France?

Asked by hsrsmith (121points) September 27th, 2008

I bought an iPhone this year, and next year I am moving to France. May I keep this iPhone and switch the service provider to Orange? I realize that I have to pay the two year contract, which is fine, but I would like to keep my same phone!

Unfortunately the answer would be no. The phone you have is locked to AT&T, and as such will not accept an Orange sim card.

@osullivanbr: Can’t you pay an unlocking fee once the contract finishes?

you can quit the contract for a small fee then change to orange
