How much money does it take a canidate to possibly become president. I mean everything from start to finish, tv ads, staff, cars, planes, protection, hotels on and on and on. Could someone tell me the total cost of all this for just one politician?

This year’s presidential campaign, which so far has cost $1.2 billion, is projected to be the most expensive in U.S. history. (I would assume this figure includes the cost’s of all candidates in the primary elections as well)

However, presidential funding is just the tip of the iceberg, with financial backing for congressional races also expected to exceed the $1.16 billion spent in 2004.

This comes as investors cope with the U.S. market losing more than $1 trillion in value in September alone.
