How do you find car lease incentives?

Asked by squirbel (4297points) October 31st, 2008

I am interested in leasing a Honda Fit, preferably 2009. I’ve read that:

To get an EXCELLENT deal, it is practically required that the car manufacturer be contributing to the deal. If you know that the manufacturer is not currently offering lease incentives, you should not expect to get an EXCELLENT deal. On the other hand, you may actually find deals that beat our EXCELLENT deal, depending on how much the dealer contributes in addition to the manufacturer incentives. If you do, you should be congratulated.

I want to put in the time and effort to finding these incentives – but I do not know where to start.

Also, if you have experience leasing cars, can you post your wisdom here? Thanks.

Car lease financing is very tough right now. Has anyone even seen an add for a car lease in the last 2 weeks? I have not….

I would second mizuki’s comments. My in-laws lease GM vehicles and have been advised by their dealer that GM may not lease vehicles anymore.
Leasing creates a glut of used cars that need to be moved and used cars aren’t selling.

In my opinon, leasing is a waste of one’s money. My in-laws like leases b/c they don’t have to maintain the cars and get a new car every three years. That is just dandy, but they always have a car payment.

If you are wanting to lease b/c those payments are all you can afford, why not buy a vehcicle you can afford…? Or buy the car you want, but just a year or two old?

I am not trying to rain on your parade….just giving you some info/perspective on leasing.

Good luck!
