What can i do if my computer wont recognize my mouse?

i have a Compaq mouse model 26–765 that i bought awhile ago for my pc and it has always worked on my mac just fine. i dont often use it because i have a laptop and when i plugged it in today, osx diddnt recognize anything had been connected. could it have just died after not using it a week or 2?

Search onlyne for newer drivers, or at least reinstall got existing ones. This normally fixes many minor hardware problems.

from my experience, you really have to beat the snot out of a mouse to kill it. Try what Eambos said.

omg im such a dumbass lol i was plugging in the wrong usb cable hanging haphazardly behind my desk. need to smoke a little less…

You can stick a label to your mouse that reads
Hello I am your mouse
Maybe your compaq is having some kind of amnesia
