What's going on with my breaker box?

Asked by susanc (16144points) November 8th, 2008

It’s Saturday, I can’t get an electrician. The lights have gone out in my kitchen, the fridge is off, I can’t use the microwave. The breaker for the kitchen isn’t thrown. I turned it off and on again but it didn’t make any difference. What to do?

If it’s just in the kitchen, you could have a bad breaker switch. Not something I would replace myself. Needs an electrician, IMHO.

I just asked my brother in law. He said it is probably a bad breaker for the kitchen. The good news is that it is a easy and cheap fix. The bad news is that it is Saturday.

It might be time to run to the store and get an extension cord so you can keep the refrigerator running.
