No there are not. You can organize an informal one, and you can choose your Fluther (your very own q&a family!). But that’s about it. We’re one big happy community.

Not that I’ve seen.

can you tell me how to do that? where this is a community i think it would be a good idea to have a birthday group and a prayer group on here.

There’s not a way to do it using the site. Fluther’s features are limited, and it’s strictly a q&a site. Your fluther is a group of your closest people on here, and you can click a button to see what questions they’ve been asking. If you want to find like-minded people on here, clean up your profile info. Change your “expertise” and “interests” into simple, comma-marked lists. Such as: “Expertise: christianity, prayer, needlepoint, basket-weaving,” or whatever you’d like to put there. That will deliver appropriate questions to you, and will lead you to people with similar interests, via the “Questions for you” list.

Groups would from distinct cliques, which would tear apart our community. I like the way things are.

sorry you feel that way Eambos. the community i was at had groups and it brought the community closer as a family is why i ask. but i do understand your point too. thank you for your input.

[Fluther Moderator:] Thanks for sharing your ideas, rossi_bear!

We currently have no plans to allow users to create ‘groups’ for specific things, although perhaps it would be something to think about as Fluther gets bigger. Right now though; it’s hard to see how groups would help people to get the questions that interest them any more than the current Questions for You and Your Fluther features do.

If you’re wanting to add people to ‘Your Fluther’ (sort of like a friendship/group just around you), click on their username and then click on the ‘Add xxx to your Fluther’ link. Once you have some people in Your Fluther, you will be able to see just the questions by them here:

http://www.fluther.com/browse/yourfluther/ or by clicking on the Your Fluther link on the homepage

If you would like to find a friend, you can type their username in the search box in the upper-right above, then click on their username, and you will be presented with the “add to your Fluther” link.

Thanks again for the feedback, and happy Fluthering!
