How do you get an IE window to maximize every time it opens?

Asked by jsc3791 (1988points) January 8th, 2009

At one point or another I resized my IE window on my computer. Now every time it opens it is the size I had made it. (A small, long rectangle so that my surfing would be undetected.)

How do I get it to open up to maximized size by default again?

It is driving me crazy!

I think it remembers the last size setting that you had, so just resize the window the same way you made it the small, long rectangle.

You can also maximize a window by clicking the icon to the left of the X in the right hand corner.

Otherwise, IE sucks and you should download Firefox or Chrome.

Right click the IE icon (on the desk top or start menu)

Click properties.

On the short cut tab there is a line that says run with a box by it. Change the box to maximised.

This will work for any aplication.

To elaborate: Start IE, resize the window, then close the window.

That only works until you close the window not maximised. If you change the properties it opens maximised every time what ever you (or anyone else) did last time you closed the program.

Don’t maximize the window, but expand the edges in normal mode to where you want them to appear. Then close the window.

Thanks everyone. That helps tremendously!

When I right click and go to Properties, all I see are the tabs with General, Security, Privacy, etc.

I didn’t see the Shortcut tab.

I should mention I am using IE 6.0 (at work).

You need to right click the IE shortcut not the Internet shortcut. They look very simmilar but are different. The Internet short cut is pinned to the start menu, the IE shortcut will be in the programs menu some where. Or better yet, look for IE in the programs folder.
