what the hell is it about?

It must be pretty good if it beat out Benjamin Button!

@charliecompany34 It’s about a kid from the Indian slums who goes on “Who wants to be a millionaire?” and does very well. So well infact the police arrest him for cheating. While he is interviewed he tell his life story which explains how he knew all the answers.

@Judi Yes it is.

@all turn the computer off and go and see it.

hmmmm, interesting. what a great concept!

It is an amazing movie. I’m a huge Danny Boyle fan anyway but everyone should see this movie, even if you don;t know who Danny Boyle is. It is visually compelling, the main characters inspire sympathy (sooner or later) and the acting is superb! I would highly suggest this movie to anyone.

I am dying to see this film.
I will now “Stop Following” so I don’t see any spoilers.

@shadling: Even though you’ve been told he was arrested for getting all the answers right, that’s not even close to being a spoiler ;)

I plan to see it soon. It’s had great reviews…

It was amazing! It has a great storyline that is followed through the entire film, and isn’t too choppy. The music was amazing too. The only thing that sucked about it is the (spoiler alert, skip to 1:04 to not be inflicted by spoiler) dance that they pulled off at the credits. That was weird. And it was abrupt, like you thought it was part of the film, and if it was, it could have spoiled it.

It’s so good. A+++. And I love the little Bollywood dance at the end. A little tip of the hat to Indian movie tradition. But it’s not a happy-go-lucky romantic comedy. It has some very serious issues that it deals with. I think if you know that going in you’ll like it better. Definitely a must see, I’d say.

…and it completely deserved all the GG it got.

Acquiring now due to the recommendations here. I had never heard of it before.

I hate to be contrarian: it’s a very good film, but I didn’t think it deserved the golden-globe. Of course, maybe if we had something other than the ultra-dreary oscar fair…

I’m seeing it on Thursday, snow permitting . The other two people in our party of five will see MIlk. Then we’ll compare and contrast.

I have to wait for it to come out on DVD, it was never released locally :( It joins my list of

must sees but never played:
Revolutionary Road
MILK
The Wrestler
Rachel Getting Married
The Reader

I saw Revolutionary Road. The jury is still out on that one…

Our trip to see Slumdog tomorrow night has been cancelled due to wind chill factors of -17degrees.

Rachel Getting Married was flawed but very interesting. It engendered days of conversation among the movie buffs here, of whom I am one.
