Dogs are like family, fun to have, and protective to you. They lick you to death.

My dogs are my furry children. I have Mackie, an English Setter-Dalmatian mix (looks like a black-and-white German Short Haired Pointer except his tail is long), and, Kobe, a retired racing greyhound, who is is starting to get the hang of the pet thing after 18 months.

Mackie is short for macula notare.

I have 2 boxers. Best pet you could ever own as long as you can give them the attention they need.
I don’t mean attention like pampering them all the time and upkeep. I mean it as in the same attention you would give your kid. We’ve had to learn to spread the love out evenly. Very emotional breed with a ton of personality. Extremely smart too. My female opens doors and my male (I swear) can understand human. No training.

i am – i’ve had dogs since i was born, and my mum’s dog used to guard my crib – but i have to admit i’m much more of a cat lover.
i love dogs more when they are not drooling, are not wet, and have their tongues in their mouths. sigh i guess i’m no fun.

(laugh) my Rottwillor undrestands human talk to. Everytime I say “Walk” she runs right to the door I swear.

Dog, chicken, cow… I’ll pretty much eat any type of meat. Dog lover sounds like a pizza they might deliver to my house from Pizza Hut.

Dogs always let you know you are welcome home.

I once thought I was strictly a cat-lover, even though we had both dogs and cats throughout my childhood. However, our daughter begged for a dog so we got one, Sally. We now have five, including Sally, who is now 16 years old but very spry for her age. My favorite dog was my avatar, Gracie the Shar-Pei. Sadly she is gone now, from lymphoma, which is one of the costs of loving Shar-Peis.

So, yes, I am a dog-lover, but I am also a cat-lover.

I love all animals, but I am a cat person. I’m not one to pick sides. Pet choice is very personal.

My boy cat always greets me at the door with meows and purrs. He loves me.

I work at a dog kennel, I better love dogs!

I love dogs!! I have Waffles my beagle Brittany spaniel mix and Totoro my beagle. Totoro is a rescue and I couldn’t imagine how his previous owner could have abused and abandonded him, i love him dearly. I am also a groomer so I have the pleasure of being with dogs
for a living.

I’m an animal lover in general, but I unfortunately don’t own a dog right now. I can’t wait until I do.

mzgator's avatar

Yep! I love my Winston, and so does his Daddy and sister.

Seriously, our Welsh terrier is a big part of our family. He gives us all so much laughter and happiness. He is a great dog!

NaturalMineralWater's avatar

I just like them. I don’t LIKE like them.

I’m a plain ole animal lover, but dogs are the greatest! My Dakota is a golden retriever/chow mix, and as sweet as he could be. At 13, he’s slowing down, and I dread the day that I have to put him down which seems to be approaching soon. He’s getting arthritic, and I hate to think that one day I will have to end his misery.

Then there is my little Bitty, who is an 8 year old Border Terrier mix. She is a character, full of energy and with just a look she knows how to melt your heart.(Just like the cat that Antonio Banderas plays in Shrek!)

Little “Miss spoiled brat” that she is, she has to sleep with SO and I under the covers… She likes to curl up behind my knees. I’ve had a dog in my life since I was 5 years old, and I would be lost without one. To me, living without a dog would be like living without enough air to breathe… they are a neccessity!

c_gunningham's avatar

No! dogs eat children and shit everywhere, this is largely the fault of humans of course. Useful dogs are good though, husky’s, dogs for the blind.

Hinata_88's avatar

Dogs might have down sides, but think of the good sides to them. If you love them they will love you back.

sjmc1989's avatar

I never thought I would be one of those people that talk to my dog as if they were my child that can actually understand what I’m saying but I am I admit it. I have a mini schnauzer he eats everything including expensive shoes, razors, dvds etc,and I get mad for two seconds then he just gives me that look and I could care less. Its just something about dogs how could you not love them

Darwin's avatar

@Hinata_88 – Actually you don’t even have to love them for dogs to love you back. It can be amazing what they will tolerate from “their” human.

ladytmerie's avatar

@ Darwin- you are so right. Children are the same way with crappy parents, sad.

LuvToRite's avatar

Of course who isnt! I have a shorbet maltese that is well natured and beautiful. He is the best companion I’ve ever had!
