What's a good HTML comments code?

Asked by Elumas (3170points) February 23rd, 2009

I would like to add the ability to comment on my blog posts here. What are some attractive reliable comment codes for this?

Well, comment codes aren’t just plain HTML as they require a server side script in order to take the comment submitted by the user and then put into a database of some sort (whether it be a simple XML file, or a database like MySQL, Postgres and such) and so it’s not as easy as just providing you with a little bit of code. There are countless programming languages you can use but in this it’s entirely on what your host supports.

So once you know what your host supports and what languages you can use you can look for pre-built scripts or develop your own system. Its not too complicated :) (Google is your friend, heh)

Well, after typing all of that dverhey seems to have found a pretty neat solution so it may be worth looking into that to :)

http://www.eschatonblog.com/ gets some serious traffic and has been around for a long time. They use http://www.haloscan.com/ for their commenting system.
