Do you think Jim Cramer was uncovered by Jon Stewart badly enough that not only will Cramer's career be finished, but he might land in jail?

Or, not?

Would that it were so. Why is the only serious reporting about the lousy media coverage and the lousy track record of pundits on a comedy network?

Why do we listen to pundits? Football, politics, economic, they almost all have track records that would get a weatherman fired. No one holds them accountable.

I consider it highly lamentable.

It is up to us to give CNBC the brushoff. They were in bed with the guys they covered absolutely sycophantic.

They are discussing it on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Maybe it was a big deal.

Jon Stewart did take down Crossfire.

That would be fabulous!

@Marina – PREACH!

I’ve only seen a few moments, but I understand Comedy Central has the entire interview including outtakes.

The whole network (as Mr. Stewart pointed out) not just Cramer will probably be monitored more closely. But I don’t think it’ll amount to anything. Unfortunately, Cramer may be the only one to lose his job and that will be enough to appease the public. No real investigation will be done, and the corruption will continue.

The whole thing is actually amusing. He just pulled his coat and Cramer responded like the salesman and just smiled…It reminded me of a car salesmen I knew. He could sell you a car;change the terms to a higher rate;request a bottle of champagne from you and you would leave thinking he was the nicest guy in the world. Wall Street is out to make billions. There are a handful of mega players who manipulate the market to serve their interests. They don’t gamble. They don’t lose money on Madeoffs. They don’t assume risk.
Like Martha says, “It’s a good thing”...if you’re a billionare

I doubt it. I never saw more than a few seconds of Cramer’s show, but from those few seconds, I wrote him off as a kook. Did anyone take him seriously?

jrpowell's avatar

@syz :: A lot of people took him seriously. And a lot of people lost a lot of money listening to him.

The thing is that people lose money in the stock market all the time and the only way there will be a real investigation is if it can be proven that he was trading the stocks he was recommending.
