Oh sweet lord, every minute of every day.
The three weeks I was without the internet and more importantly without Fluther were horrific.

Since I have the Internet in the palm of my hand I spend entirely too much time. Especially since I found fluther.

I am “connected” 24/7; I am actively accessing it about 4 hours a day (if you don’t count using my work network for work stuff).

My computer and connection are on the whole time I am up so roughly 16 hours. I am not actually on the computer that whole time of course.

It would be easier to count the amount of time I am not connected, which is: when I am sleeping, when I am in the bathroom (and even this is technically not true thanks to the iPod Touch), when I am stuck in traffic, and whenever I am actively not on the computer browsing on the web (pretty rare).

I probably spend more than 10 hours each workday on a computer that is connected to the net. On weekends I try to spend less time on it, but it depends on what I do. For instance, I was quilting this weekend, but I had my laptop up and open to the reference for that quilt and watching some TV show.

It’s worthwhile to note that I do not have cable television (or even non-cable television), thus I spend zero time mindlessly browsing TV. This is generally replaced with mindless (or mindful) browsing on the web. So this plays into my numbers.

I am technically connected twenty four hours a day. The home computer, work computer, and iPhone are always on and connected.

I am actively on the internet about twelve hours a day. Minus eight hours for sleeping, that leaves about four hours a day I am awake and not on the internet.

My internet connection is always connected. But, I’m not always on.
I spend way too much time on the computer. Probably about 8 hours a day. While my son naps, when he goes to bed, sometimes while he’s awake, but only if he’s watching something on tv or I’m making a meal and I keep the laptop on the island.

What did we do before the internet?

(I’m on the grid probably 10–12 hours a day.)

You mean we can disconnect?

jbfletcherfan's avatar

Yeah, I’m on here from the time I get up til 9:00 at night, then I shut it off. My husband is complaining that I spend entirely too much time in this chair, so I get off a couple hours before I go to bed. So probably close to 14 hours a day.

@SeventhSense: LOL. Welcome to the matrix.

Why thank you CP. China is getting wired

The connection is running 24/7. I’m active on it on average about 5 hours a day. It would be less were I working.
