Do you consider your self to be left or right wing? Or not at all?

I alternate depending on the issue being discussed but am generally a political centrist i.e. I’m one of the boring ones ;)

I feel the same sort of benevolence with some issues, though I tend to lean left in general

@allen_o, You’re not hitting the right spots. Hang out a shopping mall during the day, or at Shoney’s after church on Sunday. and there are several on Fluther. Not me, despite my personal conservative proclivities. Radical middle here.

I think if the election had gone otherwise, there would be more visibility from the right.

I, too, tend to alternate my opinion based on the argument, but I would say that I am a “middlewoman who leans to the right” – perhaps because of where and how I grew up (my father is extremely conservative, while my mother is more liberal & I grew up in a country area with predominantly conservative thought, yet right next door to one of the most liberal towns in Indiana)

I’m a godless liberal hippie bum, so I guess that means I’m pretty left wing.

I’m socially left-wing, but in a lot of ways financially right-wing (more philosophically than actually). However, I hold my social values far, far, far above money, so I identify as left-wing and vote very left.

Personally, I abhor the polarization that is going in our society in many realms particularly politics. I have found that people are usually not one thing or another, but complex beings.

I think we would be a lot better off if we looked for co0mmon ground on which to build.

@allen_o ; You really haven’t met someone openly right wing? Or are you saying you haven’t met someone openly right wing here? My bubble is slightly left of plumb, but most of the people in my town are so far right you can’t see the bubble anymore. There are a few righties here on fluther, but the general lean is to the left.

I live in the north of England, which is a predominately left area, and no, haven’t met an openly right wing person yet

Come visit Bakersfield, California where the Bible belt snaps and stings at the end.

I’m a lefty, and happily so. We do have several respected conservatives on this site, but overall Fluther is quite left of center.

I’m in the middle.

@dlm812 I know there are other righties on Fluther, so you’re definitely not alone. Or, maybe we’ve sunk our tentacles into you, and dragged you to the left!
