Can someone offer insight into the "hugs" I've been receiving as PMs?

I don’t remember. It was a medium-long name of someone whom I didn’t recognize and didn’t have much of a profile. I get PM’d by some of our more noteworthy trolls every so often, so I chalked it up to that.

This was last week or the week before, btw.

It’s a puzzlement! (I didn’t get any.)

I still haven’t figured out who Santa was. S/he sent me a happy non-denominational winter holiday wish, or something to that effect.

I got one, and he explained that he was sending it to everyone in his Fluther—I guess it set off a pay-it-forward display of affection!

Same as hearkat. I simply hugged him back – it’s a nice gesture. I’m sure whoever has been sending hugs [and not responding] had at one time been hugged by this serial hugger.

Hugs are nice – getting them at this point in time is not stalkerish – especially when the original hugger announced his intentions. [I also asked him, and he responded.]

I’d just call it an epidemic.

Should I dispel the mystery behind the hugs?

It all has to do with the question below, that was asked on Friday. I answered the question and ShauneP82, and I started PMing back and forth. He came up with the idea to hug everyone in our group, and I thought it was a great idea. I was just in an incredibly good mood because it was Friday, the sun was out, I was going to visit my girlfriend for the weekend, everything was perfect. So I sent out hugs to everyone. Plus I am relatively new to Fluther and I was just trying to make some new friends.

I find it hilarious that this got its own question. I was away from my computer this weekend, but I sent a reply back to every person who sent me something asking why they got a hug.

Interesting idea, @lukiarobecheck. I appreciate the concept, and it is cute online. However I must say if a random dude tried to hug me in RL he would probably get hit.

@elijahsuicide: Well of course, I am not some crazy person who goes around physically hugging strangers on the street ;-) I figured since we are all on here, we are all friends. Everyone deserves a hug now and then.
