This is going to seem like a pain in the ass. But have you tried creating a new user account and trying Adium under that account? If that works it is probably the preference file on the user account you are using now that is messed up.

I should have mentioned that I am using it to sign into my AIM account but I have tried using a different AIM account and it still won’t let me sign it and it displays the same error message. I can sign into other clients with adium though.

I also uninstalled adium and reinstalled twice and still no luck. The second time I tried to downgrade but it still is not working…

I figured it out! thanks for your help. All i had to do was to change my port to 80 and it is allowing me to connect now.

I had the exact same problem. It was logging in at port 5190 and changing to 80 fixed it. Thanks arcoarena!

Did AOL change its ports without telling anyone? Because it was working fine, and then on 8/13 just stopped suddenly.
