Certainly music distribution is, and there are some music collaboration based social networks emerging, but I would say it is unlikely to become a major trend.

I agree with @quasi. Social media has opened up the world of digital marketing and has reinforced the strategies regarding distribution and profile awareness. However, the production process if shown as video like people like Ryan Leslie chose to do merely increases popularity of the music.
